Zoom Meeting • Welcome and Call to Order – Camille Washington, Chair • Approval of October Minutes • Motion to approve – Cam McLeod • 2nd motion – Shane Osguthorpe • Event Recap – Lorie Buckley • Mayor’s Awards in the Arts o Overviewed event and 6 honorees celebrated o Event feedback received o Discussed event’s future given the forthcoming change in Mayoral leadership • Marshall White Center Public Art Request for Qualifications – Lorie Buckley and Jake McIntire • Reviewed Marshall White Center public art project opportunities, budget, and schedule o Anticipate a national RFQ to drop on Café late November  Discussed other channels to market the RFQ o Deadline to receive RFQ materials: January 31 • Arts and Culture Master Plan Update – Lorie Buckley • A biennial Master Plan review will take place in late 2024. o A high-level review of 2022 items deemed “in progress” will be conducted at the January 2024 Committee meeting.  o Funding opportunities, strategies, and consultants are being explored to conduct an Arts and Culture Master Plan revamp in 2026. • Sub-Committees • Executive – Camille Washington o Partnership with Ogden City’s Diversity Commission is strengthening • Ogden CAN – Camille Washington o OCAAC will present at the January Ogden CAN Board meeting.  Presentation will include a Committee overview and an opportunity to investigate community collaborations. • Nine Rails Creative District – Leon Araujo o Discussed the District’s opportunity to engage with Ogden CAN.  Ogden CAN funding may be available to support work in the District.  Discussed opportunities to strengthen leadership and communication within the District. • Suggested that this be addressed the next iteration of the Arts and Culture Master Plan. • Expressed need for additional staffing to support the work being done by Ogden City Arts to ensure success of the District.  Identified the need for the community to activate the District with self-initiated projects. • Considered ways in which this can be accomplished. o Ogden Downtown Alliance banners are now installed throughout the District  18 artists represent 22 pieces • Literary – Jan Hamer o The Literary Death Match was held last week at Nurture the Creative Mind. o Monday, November 13 at The Monarch featured Pulitzer Prize-winning author Viet Thanh Nguyen. o The Happy Magpie is moving in the new year to Salt & Hops. o Salty Magazine has been published and is available widely. o Van Sessions will be interviewing authors as part of the Utah Humanities Book Festival. o Communication of literary events occurring in the community and at Weber State University is strengthening. • Public Art – Jake McIntire o Public art RFQ for the Marshall White Center will be going live soon. o Utility Art Box Project revisions are being finalized.  RFP will launch once a few remaining permissions are garnered. o Discussed the Platforms installation across from Ogden Contemporary Art.  Considered if opportunities exist for that space to hold a rotating exhibit. • Arts Grants – Shane Osguthorpe o Recapped progress of FY 2025 grant cycle and estimated timeline. o Shared Subcommittee’s roles and responsibilities in the grant cycle process. o Explored the creation of a public grant opportunity database. • Committee Member Updates • R. Brandon Long – The Banyon Collective, in partnership with Utah Humanities, will be hosting literary podcasts across the state of Utah.  • Upcoming events: o 11/18 – Slient Sky will be performed at Weber State University o 11/19 – OnStage Ogden features Post Modern Jukebox o 11/22 – Union Station Ribbon Cutting and Exhibit Grand Opening o 11/22 – Van Sessions will host its Locals Rock The Monarch series 1. Tickets available at 24tix.com o 11/25 - Shop Local Saturday 1.
