1. Welcome.
2. Roll Call.
3. Action Item - approval of minutes from 02/09/2022.
a. Commissioner Darby made a motion to approve the minutes. Commissioner
Harbath seconded. Motion passed unanimously.
4. New Business.
4.1. Current events in the community - Chair Shinoda
4.2. The Hidden Disabilities Sunflower Program – Caren Werner, Visit Ogden
a. Caren Warner from Visit Ogden showed a presentation on the Hidden Disabilities
Sunflower Program. This program gives people with hidden disabilities a sunflower
lanyard and window clings for their vehicles, free of charge, to show that they do
have a disability (see recording for full presentation).
4.3. Updates on Housing Program – Cathy Fuentes, Ogden City Economic Development
a. Cathy Fuentes from Ogden City CED gave a presentation on updates to their
housing programs (see recording for full presentation).
4.4. Leadership Nominations – Chair Shinoda
a. New leadership nominations were given for Chair & Vice-Chair. Stacy Bernal was
nominated and approved for the position of chair and Shardae Jones was
nominated and approved for position of vice-chair going forward. The Commission
thanks Jeremy for all his hard work as the current chair and wishes him the best on
his future endeavors as he is leaving the Commission.
4.5. Recommendations for City Council Recognitions for May, June, July -- Chair Shinoda
a. Please have May nominations (Asian/Pacific Islander month) added to the google
document or emailed to Jeremy or Meggin by April 15 so they can be sent to City
Council for the May 17th meeting. City Council is only allowing 4-5 nominations for
this meeting. Please add nominations for June (Pride Month) into the google
document as well.
5. Old Business.
5.1. Establish a Christmas Village Cottage Planning Committee – Staff
a. The Commission will have the opportunity to design and decorate a Christmas
Village Cottage this year. If you would like to be on the planning committee, please
let the Chair or CJ know. Chair Shinoda would like to help with this committee even
though he won’t be on the Commission. Mara suggested the Commission reach
out to the Utah Association of Builders for volunteers on this project.
6. Committee Reports.
6.1. Outreach Committee
a. Awesome Autistic will be held on Saturday, April 16th from 11-2 at Enable Utah, 535
W. Stockman Way, in Ogden. Diversity Commission will have a table at this event.
b. Juneteenth is coming up and this will be a tabling event.
7. Comments from Staff.
a. Meggin reported that Ogden City will have a hiring fair on May 12th from 1-4 pm at
the amphitheater. This could be a good opportunity for the Commission to do
tabling.
b. Meggin reported that City Council has not scheduled the advice & consent of the
new incoming Commissioners yet, but as soon as it gets scheduled, she will let
everyone know. plications, suggestions on on-boarding)
8. Comments from Commission Members.
8.1. Chair Shinoda
a. Chair Shinoda would like to say thank you and goodbye to all he has served with.
He feels the Commission has made such a difference in the community and he has
been honored to serve on the Commission.
8.2. Commissioner Darby
a. Commissioner Darby wanted to welcome all the new incoming Commissioners.
She is leaving the Commission but has loved being part of this group and has made
so many friends and wanted to say thank you to everyone she has served with.
8.3. Commissioner Bernal
a. Commissioner Bernal reported that on April 21st at 6 pm, Awesome Autistic will be
holding a community conversation on autism disability & law enforcement with
Ogden OPD. This will be a zoom event. She also reported that Davis County will be
doing their first pride event on April 23rd.
8.4. Commissioner Harbath
a. Commissioner Harbath reported that on April 23rd from 11-4, Audrey will be hosting
her “Yart” sale in her yard. There will be several local artists from Ogden.
8.5. Commissioner Szalay
a. Commissioner Szalay will be staying on the Commission for another year and
hopes to have more activities this year due to Covid slowing down.

ideas on any topic. To be considerate of everyone at this meeting, public comments will
