City of Olathe City Council Eagles Landing - 475 S. Wardcliff Dr. Thursday | March 23, 2023 | 6:00 PM Dinner 6:00 PM - 6:30 PM 1. CALL TO ORDER Present: Mickelson, McCoy, Bacon, Gilmore, Felter, and Essex Absent: Vogt Board of Education members present: Brian Connell, LeEtta Felter, Robert Kuhn, and Julie Steele. Others in attendance: Dr. Brent Yeager, Superintendent of Olathe Public Schools; Tim McKee, Olathe Chamber of Commerce President; Michael Wilkes, City Manager; Susan Sherman, Deputy City Manager; Ron Shaver, City Attorney; and other City directors and staff. 2. THE SPOT - A COLLABORATIVE INNOVATION Olathe Police Chief, Mike Butaud, introduced Erik Erazo, Executive Director of The Spot, Jean Cantero, Student Support Specialist for the school district, and Sgt. Logan Bonney of the Olathe Police Department. Mr. Erazo, Mr. Cantero and Sgt. Bonney presented an overview of the activities happening at The Spot for Olathe students in the 6th through 12th grades. 3. UPDATES A. Parks and Streets Sales Tax Renewals City Engineer, Nate Baldwin, gave an overview if the proposed street maintenance sales tax renewal. Mike Sirna, Director of Quality of Life, presented the proposed park sales tax renewal. B. Downtown Library Opening Mike Sirna, Quality of Life Director, presented an update for the new downtown library, scheduled to open April 29, 2023. C. Police Headquarters Construction Olathe Police Chief, Mike Butaud, presented an update on the construction of the new police department headquarters. City's Comprehensive Plan Update Tim McKee, Chamber of Commerce President, gave an update on the partnership with the City to create a comprehensive plan. Deputy City Manager, Susan Sherman, shared additional details about the process and said they anticipate it being approximately an 18-month process. E. School Bond Projects Travis Palangi, Director of Facilities and Operations for the school district, presented an overview of the current school bond projects. 4.
