1. CALL TO ORDER
The meeting was called to order at 6:00 p.m.
1.A ROLL CALL
Present: 10 - Chair Trent Hart, Commissioner Megan Drygas, Commissioner Michael
Olson, Commissioner Rick Perry, Commissioner Danielle Westbrook,
Commissioner Frank Barber, Co-Chair Ron Hinton, Commissioner
Marygrace Jennings, Commissioner Erin McGown, and Commissioner
Katie Nelson
Absent: 1- Commissioner Diane Robertson
2. APPROVAL OF AGENDA
The agenda was amended to include introductions of new members under Announcements,
and Item 2.O (City Hall Sculpture) under Art in Public Places Committee Report.
The agenda was approved as amended.
3. APPROVAL OF MINUTES
3.A 13-0272 Approve March 2013 Minutes
Commissioner Westbrook moved, seconded by Co-Chair Hinton, to approve the
minutes. The motion carried by unanimous vote.
4. PUBLIC COMMENT
5. ANNOUNCEMENTS
Chair Hart welcomed incoming members Marygrace Jennings, Erin McGown and Katie
Nelson. Commissioners shared information on past and upcoming art events.

7. REPORTS
13-0273 Commission Items
The following Work Plan items were addressed:
Item 2.E Public Art Assessments: Binders will be distributed in May.
Item 2.G Comprehensive Plan Update: The final draft will be available for review in
May-June.
Item 2.I Music in Olympia: A sub-committee will be formed to address this item.
Item 2.J Define Theater District: Chair Hart, Commissioner Westbrook and Commissioner
Robertson have started to put together a framework for this item and invited other
interested Commissioners to participate.
The report was received.
13-0274 Community Events & Outreach Report
The following Work Plan items were addressed:
Item 1.8 Community Mural Support: Commissioner Perry and Ms. Johnson will meet to
review brochure.
Item 2.A Arts Walk: Event is in process.
Item 2.D Art Ambassador Program: Training is set for June 1, 9:00 a.m.
Item 2.F Arts Day at the Capitol: The 2013 effort was considered successful.
Commissioner Westbrook noted the importance of having Arts Commissioners there to
represent the arts in our area.
The report was received.
13-0275 Art in Public Places Committee Report
The following Work Plan items were addressed:
Item 1.4 Public Art Projects: Chair Hart reported the presentation of Carolyn Law's public
art proposal Walking on Land by Water to Council went well.
Item 1.7 Artspace Market Study Support: Co-Chair Hinton reported there will be a "soft"
outreach at Arts Walk with the survey set to start in September.

Item 2.H Percival Plinth People’s Choice: Contracts are in the works for placement of
Windstar (People’s choice 2012) at the Port Plaza. This year's ballot will include the option
for mail-in in addition to delivery to The Olympia Center.
Item 2.N Artesian Well Public Art: Results of the Our Town grant process will be available
in June.
Item 2.0 City Hall Sculpture: The Art in Public Places Committee will meet before the next
Commission meeting to address this topic.
