1. CALL TO ORDER
Chair Dobler called the meeting to order at 6:02 p.m.

Present: 9 - Chair Frederick Dobler, Vice Chair Jim Burlingame, Commissioner
Rose Clifthorne, Commissioner Kathryn Dorgan, Commissioner Stacy
Hicks, Commissioner Kathy Murray, Commissioner Joe Batt,
Commissioner Jace Hoag and Commissioner Shameka Gagnier
2. APPROVAL OF AGENDA
Chair Dobler noted an error in the retreat timeline, correcting the time for Welcome and
Introductions to 1/2 hour, and the Artists at the Community Development Table training to
one hour. He also noted Poet Laureate Ashly McBunch was in attendance to share a
poem.
The agenda was approved.

21-0574 Arts Commission Spring Retreat
Arts Commissioners conducted their retreat and welcomed new Commissioners Joe
Batt, Shameka Ganier and Jace Hoag.
Poet Laureate Ashly McBunch introduced themself and shared a poem in progress.
Arts Program Specialist Angel Nava presented the training module developed by
Americans for the Arts on Community + Culture + Equity.
Commissioners concluded with a discussion on Commission assignments and
determined to have staff keep a list of opportunities and appointments along with a
request to learn about opportunities the month prior to assignment, if at all possible.
Regarding assignments, Commissioners Dorgan and Hoag have responded to serve on
the ARCH and Equity lecture series team, alongside members of the Heritage
Commission.
The discussion was completed.
