BUSINESS ITEM 2.A 17-0503 Development Projects Status Update Community Planning and Development Director, Keith Stahley briefly framed the discussion around development in the City. He discussed Olympia being ranked as number four on livability.com. Renee Sunde shared an overview of the development that is occurring in downtown and around Olympia. She noted the momentum is based on timing. The City has invested $180 Million in downtown, Puget sound is rebounding economically, and adoption of the Downtown Strategy has set the stage for increased private investment. Ms. Sunde reviewed a downtown development project map and shared an update on several properties under development along with properties that are on the way. Principal Planner Tim Smith reviewed major multi-family and subdivision projects being developed in the City. Associate Line of Business Director Todd Cunningham discussed construction in downtown including adaptive reuse and new construction. He also shared construction code application. Ms. Sunde gave an overview of commercial activity occurring throughout the City. Mr. Smith discussed key issues that affect planning and engineering codes. Councilmembers ask clarifying questions.
