BUSINESS ITEM 2.A 23-0541 City Council Mid-year Retreat Mayor Selby opened the meeting welcoming everyone. Facilitator Winch shared an overview of the agenda for the day and reminded Councilmembers of their working agreements. City Manager Burney shared an update on the 2023 work plan. He discussed the status of items and highlighted changes and delays. Survey consultant Marlar presented results of the recent Community Opinion Survey. Councilmembers asked clarifying questions. City Manager Burney discussed results of City of Olympia Page 1 City Council Meeting Minutes June 17, 2023 the survey in comparison to the City's current priorities and response to community concerns expressed through the survey. Councilmembers shared their takeaways from the survey results. Council and staff participated in an art activity during lunch. After lunch, two smaller groups were formed to discuss priorities for 2024 based on workplan progress and survey results. Each group then reported to the full group their identified items for discussion. Assistant City Manager Sullivan presented proposed updates to the City Council Guidebook. City Manager Burney and Mayor Selby shared closing thoughts and thanks to all in attendance. The discussion was completed. 3. ADJOURNMENT The meeting adjourned at 3:00 p.m. City of Olympia Page 2
