APPROVAL OF MINUTES 2.A 13-0745 Approval of Civil Service Commission Meeting Minutes for August 20, 2013 Commissioner Soule moved, seconded by Commissioner Callner, to approve the minutes. The motion carried by the following vote: Aye: 2 - Commissioner Callner and Commissioner Soule Excused: 1 - Chair Villegas Bremer 3. BUSINESS ITEMS 3.B 13-0741 Removal of Names from Entry Level Police Register Police Chief Ronnie Roberts requested one candidate to be removed from the entry level police officer register. The specific reason for removal of the candidate was reviewed by the secretary-examiner, and the reason was determined to be supported by factual and verifiable information. No appeal has been received. This was an informational agenda item, and no action was needed. The report was received. City of Olympia Page 1 Civil Service Commission Meeting Minutes September 17, 2013 3.A 13-0736 Approval of Entry Level Police Officer Register Ms. Cleveland gave background information regarding the entry level police officer recruitment. Three candidates were placed on the register and ranked according to their scores. Commissioner Soule moved, seconded by Commissioner Callner, to approve the register. The motion carried by the following vote: Aye: 2 - Commissioner Callner and Commissioner Soule Excused: 1 - Chair Villegas Bremer 3.C 13-0742 Approval of Fire Captain-Assistant Fire Marshal Promotional Process Ms. Cleveland gave background information regarding the proposed fire captain-assistant fire marshal promotional recruitment process. Commissioner Soule moved, seconded by Commissioner Callner, to approve the fire captain-assistant fire marshal recruitment process. The motion carried by the following vote: Aye: 2 - Commissioner Callner and Commissioner Soule Excused: 1 - Chair Villegas Bremer 3.D 13-0743 Approval of Fire Inspector/Firefighter Promotional Process Ms. Cleveland gave background information regarding the proposed fire captain-assistant fire marshal promotional recruitment process. Commissioner Soule moved, seconded by Commissioner Callner, to approve the fire inspector/firefighter promotional recruitment process. The motion carried by the following vote: Aye: 2 - Commissioner Callner and Commissioner Soule Excused: 1 - Chair Villegas Bremer 3.E 13-0744 Approval of Changes to Fire Captain-Assistant Fire Marshal Classification Specification Ms. Cleveland gave background information regarding the proposed fire captain-assistant fire marshal classification specification. The specification currently states, under special requirements, that the assistant fire marshal is required to obtain ICBO Uniform Fire Code Certification with two years of appointment as a condition of continued employment. This has changed to the ICC International Fire Code. Additionally, the fire marshal is requesting that this certification be obtained within one year of appointment. Commissioner Soule moved, seconded by Commissioner Callner, to approve City of Olympia Page 2 Civil Service Commission Meeting Minutes September 17, 2013 changes to the fire captain-assistant classification specification.
