APPROVAL OF AGENDA The agenda was approved. 3. APPROVAL OF MINUTES 3.A 16-0926 Approval of July 19, 2016 Meeting Minutes The minutes were approved. 4. PUBLIC COMMENT - None 5. ANNOUNCEMENTS Chair Villegas Bremer congratulated Aaron Jelcick on his appointment to Deputy Police Chief. 6. BUSINESS ITEMS 6.A 16-0922 Approval of Entry Level Police Officer Register Ms. Camus reported 30 Entry Level Police Officer applicants were invited to phase 1 suitability testing, and 14 participated in testing. Nine candidates passed the Phase 1 suitability test and were invited to oral interviews. Eight accepted interviews and five candidates passed and are on the register with scores ranging from 78.60%-95.66%. The inteview was held on August 4th, 2016 and the panel consisted of OPD Sergeant Dan Duncan, OPD Police Service Specialist Madison Sola Del Vigo, and Joanna West VP/Director of Marketing at Washington Business Bank. Of the initial 30 City of Olympia Page 1 Civil Service Commission Meeting Minutes August 16, 2016 candidates invited to phase one suitability assessment, seven candidates were female and 23 were male. One candidate was American Indian/Alaskan Native, one candidate was Asian/Pacific Islander, three candidates were Hispanic/Latino, 20 candidates were White/Caucasian, and five candidates were Other/Two or More Races. Commissioner Callner moved, seconded by Chair Villegas Bremer, to approve the register. The motion carried by the following vote: Aye: 2 - Commissioner Callner and Chair Villegas Bremer Excused: 1 - Commissioner Soule 6.B 16-0923 Approval of Advanced Entry Police Officer Register Ms. Camus reported three Advanced Entry Police Officer applicants were invited to participate in the phase 1 suitability assessment. Of those three candidates, two participated in the phase 1 suitability assessment and passed. Both candidates were invited to oral interviews and passed. Of the candidates initally invited, all three were male. Two were Hispanic/Latino and one was White/Caucasian. Oral interviews were held on August 4, 2016 and the interview panel consisted of OPD Sergeant Dan Duncan, OPD Police Service Specialist Madison Sola Del Vigo, and Joanna West VP/Director of Marketing at Washington Business Bank. Scores on the register range from 87.5%-91.0%. Commissioner Callner moved, seconded by Chair Villegas Bremer, to approve the register. The motion carried by the following vote: Aye: 2 - Commissioner Callner and Chair Villegas Bremer Excused: 1 - Commissioner Soule 8. OTHER TOPICS Ms. Cleveland announced Chief Ronnie Roberts and City Manager Steve Hall will present information about the Olympia Police Department at the September Civil Service Meeting. 9.
