CALL TO ORDER The meeting was called to order at 8:30 a.m. 1.A ROLL CALL Present: 3 - Chair Linda Villegas Bremer, Commissioner Reiko Callner and Commissioner Oscar Soule 2. APPROVAL OF AGENDA The agenda was approved. 3. PUBLIC COMMENT - NONE 4. ANNOUNCEMENTS - NONE 5. BUSINESS ITEMS 5.A 20-0410 Approval of January 21, 2020 Civil Service Commission Meeting Minutes The minutes were approved. 5.B 20-0411 Approval of Entry Level Police Officer Register Ms. Camus explained forty candidates were invited to the phase 1 suitability assessment. Fourteen participated in the phase 1 suitability assessment, and six passed. Six candidates were invited to oral interviews, six participated and five successfully passed the oral interviews. Four candidates were female and thirty-six were male. Thirty were White/Caucasian, one was Asian/Pacific Islander, one was Hispanic/Latino, one was African American/Black, and three were two or more races. The interview panel consisted of OPD Officer Sean Lindros, OPD Sergeant Paul Frailey, and Police Service Specialist Angela Johnson. The interview was conducted remotely due to the COVID-19 Pandemic. City of Olympia Page 1 Civil Service Commission Meeting Minutes May 19, 2020 Five candidates passed the phase 1 suitability assessment and the oral interview and have been placed on the register in accordance with scores ranging from 74.46 - 90.95. Commissioner Callner moved, seconded by Commissioner Soule, to approve the Entry Level Police Officer Register. The motion carried as follows: Aye: 3 - Chair Villegas Bremer, Commissioner Callner and Commissioner Soule 5.C 20-0412 Approval of Lateral Police Officer Register Ms. Camus reported two candidates were invited to the phase 1 suitability assessment. Two participated in the phase 1 suitability assessment, and one passed. One candidate was invited to oral interviews, participated, and passed the oral interview. One candidate was male and one candidate was female. One was White/Caucasian, and one was two or more races. The interview panel consisted of OPD Officer Sean Lindros, OPD Sergeant Paul Frailey, and Police Service Specialist Angela Johnson. The Oral Board was held remotely due to the COVID-19 Pandemic. One candidate passed the phase 1 suitability assessment and the oral interview and has been placed on the register with a score of 96.00. Commissioner Callner moved, seconded by Commissioner Soule, to approve the Lateral Police Officer register. The motion carried as follows: Aye: 3 - Chair Villegas Bremer, Commissioner Callner and Commissioner Soule 6. REPORTS - NONE 7. OTHER TOPICS Commissioners discussed the COVID-19 Pandemic response. 8.
