APPROVAL OF AGENDA The agenda was approved. 3. APPROVAL OF MINUTES 24-0113 Approval of November 21, 2023 Civil Service Commission Meeting Minutes The minutes were approved as amended. 4. PUBLIC COMMENT - None 5. ANNOUNCEMENTS - None 6. BUSINESS ITEMS 24-0114 Civil Service Secretary/Chief Examiner Appointment Commissioner Soule moved, seconded by Chair Villegas Bremer, to appoint Nicole Camus as Civil Service Secretary/Chief Examiner. The motion carried by the following vote: Aye: 2 - Chair Villegas Bremer and Commissioner Soule Excused: 1 - Commissioner Callner 24-0115 Approval of Entry Level Police Officer Register Commissioner Soule moved, seconded by Chair Villegas Bremer, to approve the certification of the Entry Level Police Officer Register effective January 25, City of Olympia Page 1 Civil Service Commission Meeting Minutes January 26, 2024 2024. The motion carried by the following vote: Aye: 2 - Chair Villegas Bremer and Commissioner Soule Excused: 1 - Commissioner Callner 24-0117 OFD Assistant Fire Chief Testing Process Commissioner Soule moved, seconded by Chair Villegas Bremer, to approve the testing process to establish an Assistant Fire Chief (Fire Prevention) Register with the recommendation to add a member of the community to the interview panel. The motion carried by the following vote: Aye: 2 - Chair Villegas Bremer and Commissioner Soule Excused: 1 - Commissioner Callner 24-0118 OFD Assistant Fire Marshal - Captain Testing Process Commissioner Soule moved, seconded by Chair Villegas Bremer, to approve the testing process to establish an Assistant Fire Marshal Captain Register. The motion carried by the following vote: Aye: 2 - Chair Villegas Bremer and Commissioner Soule Excused: 1 - Commissioner Callner 7. REPORTS Chief Morris reported that by July 1, 2024 the Fire Department will have 23 of their 56 firefighters with one year or less experience. By January 2025, 35 of the 56 will have less than two years experience, and 40 of the 56 will have less than three years on the job. The department went from a three platoon to a four platoon schedule. Council approved the purchase of two new aid units, to be delivered in a year. The department is developing a community driven five-year strategic plan. 8. OTHER TOPICS Interim HR Director Nicole Camus gave an update on the HR Director position recruitment. 9.
