CALL TO ORDER Chair Yến Huỳnh called the meeting to order at: 5:30 p.m. 2. ROLL CALL Present: 3 - Chair Yến Huỳnh, Committee member Clark Gilman and Committee member Dontae Payne 3. APPROVAL OF AGENDA The agenda was approved. 4. PUBLIC COMMENT - None 5. APPROVAL OF MINUTES 5.A 24-0005 Approval of October 25, 2023 Community Livability and Public Safety Committee Meeting Minutes The minutes were approved. 6. COMMITTEE BUSINESS 6.A 24-0089 Update on Advisory Committee Recruitment Process CIty of Olympia Strategic Communications Director Kellie Purce Braseth updated the committee on the advisory committee recruitment process. The committee asked clarifying questions and directed Kellie Purce Braseth to reopen the applications for the Utility Advisory Committee, the Heritage Commission and the Olympia Metropolitan Parks District Advisory Committee from January 19, 2024 - February 16, 2024 to encourage additional candidates for the existing vacancies. Due to know calendar conflicts, the Committee updated the dates for Advisory Committee virtual interviews to March 18 and 20, 2024. City of Olympia Page 1 Community Livability and Public Meeting Minutes January 24, 2024 Safety Committee Additionally, the Committee asked Kellie Purce Braseth to begin building a process for outgoing advisory committee members to have exit interviews as their time on their respective boards comes to a close. The report was received. 6.B 24-0098 Fostering Connection & Belonging Community Engagement Briefing Strategic Planning & Performance Manager Stacey Ray provided a briefing on the Fostering Connection & Belonging Community Engagement project. Stacey Ray noted that the operating name has been updated to Belonging in Olympia. The Committee received the briefing and asked clarifying questions. The discussion was completed. 6.C 24-0097 Olympia Fire Department Overview Olympia Fire Chief Matt Morris provided an overview on the Olympia Fire Department. The Committee received the overview and asked clarifying questions. The discussion was completed. 6.D 24-0100 Approval of the 2024 Community Livability and Public Safety Committee Work Plan Assistant City Manager Debbie Sullivan provided the draft 2024 Community Livability and Public Safety Committee workplan. The Committee discussed the proposed workplan, asked clarifying questions and discussed possible additional topics. Committee member Gilman moved, seconded by Committee member Payne to approve the 2024 Community Livability and Public Safety Committee Work Plan and forward to the full Council for approval. The motion carried by the following vote: Aye: 3 - Chair Huỳnh, Committee member Gilman and Committee member Payne 7. REPORTS AND UPDATES - None 8.
