CALL TO ORDER Chair Sorrells called the meeting to order at 5:30 p.m. 2. ROLL CALL Present: 6 - Chair Virginia Sorrells, Vice Chair Roussa Cassel, Boardmember Bassim Kreem, Boardmember Joseph S LaValle, Boardmember Katrina Schmitt, and Boardmember Abigail Twombly Excused: 1 - Boardmember Ingrid Gulden 3. APPROVAL OF AGENDA The agenda was approved. 4. ANNOUNCEMENTS - None 5. PROJECT REVIEW 5.A 23-0563 Case: Nisqually Healing Center, 3663 Pacific Avenue SE, 23-2798 Presenter(s): - Associate Planner, Lydia Moorehead gave a presentation on the Staff report and design review package. - Applicant, Blake Webber gave a presentation on design of the proposed building. Motion to approve the proposal with the following conditions: 1. Provide the following changes and additional information with the detail design review application: a. Add a pedestrian pathway connection from the sidewalk on the Pacific Avenue to the courtyard and from the parking lot to the rear building entrance. b. Add landscaping and seating at the building entrances and seating within the pedestrian courtyard. c. Provide additional details and specifications related to color, materials, lighting, location and screening of mechanical equipment and pedestrian amenities. 2. Add variation to the Pacific Avenue facade to provide additional horizontal or vertical modulation or to meet the intent of the building design guidelines at the detail design City of Olympia Page 1 Design Review Board Meeting Minutes June 22, 2023 review. Variation could include color, texture, depth, articulated canopies, or other means. Boardmember Roussa moved, seconded by Boardmember Bassim, recommended approval subject to conditions.
