APPROVAL OF AGENDA The agenda was approved. 3. APPROVAL OF MINUTES 3.A 20-1018 Approval of November 18, 2020 Heritage Commission Meeting Minutes The minutes were approved. 4. PUBLIC COMMENT - None 5. ANNOUNCEMENTS Commissioner Rohrer shared that a new book on Thurston County history is available at Browsers. 6. BUSINESS ITEMS City of Olympia Page 1 Heritage Commission Meeting Minutes December 9, 2020 6.A 20-1013 Informational Briefing on the State Capitol Legislative Campus Modernization Pre-Design and the History of the State Library (Pritchard) Building Ms. Goddu and Mr. Vann shared presentations regarding the State Capitol Legislative Campus Modernization Pre-Design and the History of the State Library (Pritchard) Building. Following discussion, the Commission agreed to prepare a recommendation that City Council communicate concerns about the project to the State. An Ad-Hoc committee of Commissioners Stedman, Pareigis, Davies, and Swalling was selected to develop a draft, with the hope of prompting a City Council communication in advance of the State Capitol Committee’s next meeting. The information was received. 6.B 20-1012 Approval of 2021 Meeting Schedule Commissioner Scott moved, seconded by Commissioner Swalling, to approve the 2021 Heritage Commission meeting schedule. The motion passed unanimously. 6.C 20-1015 Discussion of 2021 Work Plan Ms. Goddu and Chair Davies facilitated a discussion about the 2021 Work Plan themes, including examining equity issues and seeking more socio-economic diversity among applicants and types of properties listed. Chair Davies requested a review of City data on demographic factors such as language, race, income, possibly at the January meeting. The discussion was completed. 6.D. 20-1019 Discuss 2021 Heritage Awards The Commission shared possible nominees for 2021 Heritage Awards and selected a few for further exploration. The discussion was completed. 7. REPORTS 7.A Heritage Review Committee Chair Davies shared that the HRC is developing a Solar Installations policy, and also shared a HRC review of Armory nomination scheduled for 12/14 to go to the full Commission in January. Marketing & Outreach Committee - None 7.C Policy, Ordinance & Guidance - None 7.D Survey & Designation Commissioner Bieber shared a list of potential granting opportunities and shared that the Committee plans to meet on December 21. 7.E Staff Report Ms. Goddu reported on projects of interest that are in or through permitting process in the City. 8.
