CALL TO ORDER Chair Davies called the meeting to order at 6:01 p.m. 1.A ROLL CALL Present: 8 - Chair Holly Davies, Vice Chair Garner Miller, Commissioner Audrey Henley, Commissioner Kenneth House, Commissioner Jessica Hull, Commissioner Andrea Pareigis, Commissioner Sarah Smith and Commissioner Gary Stedman Excused: 1 - Commissioner Sharon Lumbantobing Absent: 1 - Commissioner Stephen Scott 1.B OTHERS PRESENT- None 2. APPROVAL OF AGENDA The agenda was approved. 3. APPROVAL OF MINUTES 3.A 22-0397 Approval of March 23 2022 Heritage Commission Meeting Minutes The minutes were approved. 4. PUBLIC COMMENT - None 5. ANNOUNCEMENTS Commissioner Smith was introduced. 6. BUSINESS ITEMS 6.A 22-0285 Diversity, Equity and Inclusion in Historic Preservation City of Olympia Page 1 Heritage Commission Meeting Minutes April 27, 2022 Ms. Goddu provided an article. The Commission discussed the article and expressed interest in researching the Japanese American Presence in Olympia and whether Olympia is included in the Negro Motorist Green Book. Commissioner Miller elected to bring a new DEI article for discussion to the June meeting. The discussion was completed. 6.B 22-0420 Commission Long-Range Agenda Planning Calendar for 2022 Ms. Goddu provided the long-range planning calendar for the Commission to review and they agreed to meet in July, but not in August. Commissioners discussed possible dates and topics for their retreat, but no decision was made. The discussion was completed. 6.C 22-0421 Heritage Register Online Process Ms. Goddu demonstrated the online process for applying for the heritage register using the City's permitting portal. The information was provided. 7. COMMITEE REPORTS Marketing & Outreach Commissioner Henley led a discussion on planning for the upcoming Heritage Month event in May. STAFF REPORT Ms. Goddu provided an update on the Indie Music History Project scope of work and solicitation. 9. OTHER TOPICS - None 10.
