Chair Gilman called the meeting to order at 5:01 p.m.

6. COMMITTEE BUSINESS
6.A 20-0131 Homeless Response Plan Implementation
Ms. Buckler provided overview of connections between Olympia Homeless Response

Plan and Thurston County Homeless Crisis Response Plan. She also highlighted the
City-led actions in the Homeless Response Plan, describing progress of those that are
already underway.
The Committee requested:
-Regular updates on the Plum St. Village mitigation site and other actions in the
Homeless Response Plan.
-Potential costs/investments be identified, and potential funding sources, for City-led
actions regarding homeless response.
-Ensure there is clarity in how we use the term “affordable housing” when referring to
housing available to those transitioning out of homelessness.
-Research into Medicaid eligibility for possible assistance with fund implementation
actions.

6.B 20-0115 Annual Code Enforcement Programs Status Report
Mr. Mahone provide a summary of Code Enforcement's responsibilities, operations and
2019 activities.
The report was received.
6.C 20-0122 Residential Fire Sprinkler Update
Mr. Bossard provided an overview of the fire sprinkler requirement for single-family
residences in Olympia.
The report was received.
6.D 20-0142 Building Codes Update Process
Mr. Merrell briefed the Committee on the state required update of international building
codes from the International Code Council.
The report was received.
7. REPORTS AND UPDATES
Mr. Bauer reminded Committee members of upcoming meetings:
March 5, 2020 Committee work session on tenant-landlord issues at Washington Middle
School.
March 26, 2020 regular meeting agenda: Downtown Guidelines, Shoreline Master
Program Update, Council referral to Olympia Planning Commission to implement
2ESHB1923.
