CALL TO ORDER The meeting was called to order at 5:30 p.m. 1.A ROLL CALL Present: 5 - Chair Jim Cooper, Vice Chair Jeannine Roe, Boardmember Russ Gies, Boardmember Caleb Martin, and Boardmember Jack Seward OTHERS PRESENT Human Resources Director Joe Olson Personnel Analyst Carl Watts 2. APPROVAL OF MINUTES 2.A 15-0014 Approval of December 8, 2014 LEOFF Disability Board Meeting Minutes The minutes were approved. 3. BUSINESS ITEMS 3.A 15-0016 Case #12-14 Hearing Aid Request The request for hearing aids was approved in the amount of $2,599.98. 3.B 15-0018 Proposed Long Term Care Revisions Staff provided Boardmembers with two options for proposed revisions to long-term care language. Option one was using a formal type of language, and option two used “plain talk” language for easy to understand long-term care provision under the LEOFF policies and rules. Boardmembers preferred the “plain talk” version. No action was taken pending final wording changes in the long-term care language. 4. REPORTS 4.A 15-0017 December 2014 LEOFF Expense Report City of Olympia Page 1 LEOFF I Disability Board Meeting Minutes January 12, 2015 The expense report for December 2014 was not available in time for the meeting. Staff will email the expense report once it becomes available. The report was closed with no discussion or action. 5. OTHER TOPICS The Board is considering whether to contract with Med Plus for LEOFF 1 member hearing aids. Boardmember Seward volunteered to test the process of obtaining hearing aids through a Med Plus provider and report back to the Board. He felt the overall process was much more arduous than the current process. He discovered retail establishments offering Med Plus often did not know they had a discount pricing option available to them. He also discovered Costco pricing was comparable to Med Plus pricing. Additional time is needed to fully understand the billing process through Med Plus. The Board and staff will continue to discuss the hearing aid reimbursement process in order to provide a streamlined process for members as well as be cost effective for the City. 6.
