CALL TO ORDER Chair Cooper called the meeting to order at 5:00 p.m. 1.A ROLL CALL Present: 5 - Chair Jim Cooper, Vice Chair Jessica Bateman, Boardmember Jack Seward, Boardmember Russ Gies and Boardmember Jody Ramey 2. APPROVAL OF MINUTES 3.A 19-0238 Approval of December 10, 2018 LEOFF 1 Disability Board Meeting Minutes The minutes were approved. 4. BUSINESS ITEMS 4.A 19-0222 Approval of Case #04-19 Hearing Aid Request Vice Chair Bateman moved, seconded by Boardmember Gies, to approve payment in the amount of $3,726.27 for hearing aids from Avada. The motion carried by the following vote: Aye: 4 - Chair Cooper, Vice Chair Bateman, Boardmember Gies and Boardmember Ramey Recused: 1 - Boardmember Seward 4.B 19-0335 Approval of Case #05-19 Transportation Reimbursement Request The Board discussed whether or not public transportation to and from medical appointments is considered to be a reasonable medical necessity according to the LEOFF Disability Board Policies and Procedures and RCW 41.26.150. The Board agreed that travel via ambulance due to an accident or severe or sudden illness would be City of Olympia Page 1 LEOFF I Disability Board Meeting Minutes April 8, 2019 considered medically necessary and reimbursable. However, language in the current policies does not address elective public transportation to and from medical appointments, and the Board does not want to set a precedence for LEOFF members filing for travel reimbursements. The Board directed staff to contact the requester and ask them to obtain further medical documentation from their doctor which will address which travel claims (if any) are deemed medically necessary. The Board delayed decision and will determine whether or not to approve reimbursement at the next LEOFF meeting when the additional medical information is provided. 5. REPORTS 5.A 19-0239 Expense Report for LEOFF 1 Disability Board of November and December 2018 The report was received. 5.B 19-0350 Expense Report for LEOFF 1 Disability Board of January and February 2019 The report was received. 6.
