APPROVAL OF AGENDA The agenda was approved. 3. PUBLIC COMMENT Karen Messmer, Alan Miller and Jim Nieland spoke. 4. BOARD BUSINESS 4.A 16-0887 Approval of March 1, 2016 Olympia Metropolitan Park District Board Meeting Minutes The minutes were approved. 4.B 16-0994 2017 Preliminary OMPD Budget Parks, Arts and Recreation Director Paul Simmons presented the 2017 Preliminary OMPD Budget. Boardmembers asked clarifying questions. The information was received. 4.C 16-1013 Olympia Metropolitan Parks District (OMPD) Mechanics OMPD Treasurer Jane Kirkemo explained the components of the OMPD junior taxing district: assessed value, rate set by the assessor, and levy amount needed to fund the budget. The information was received. 4.D 16-0990 Advisory Committee Proposal for Membership and Process for Appointment OMPD Board President Jim Cooper reviewed the proposed Charter for the OMPD City of Olympia Page 1 Olympia Metropolitan Park District Meeting Minutes September 13, 2016 Board Advisory Committee. Boardmembers asked questions and proposed changes. The Boardmembers requested the following changes to the proposed Charter: - Staggered terms (2 and 4 year commitments) - OMPD President (or designee) to serve as liaison - Two Parks and Recreation Advisory Committee (PRAC) members - Three citizen-at-large members - Use City's General Government Committee for appointment in Spring 2017.
