CALL TO ORDER The meeting was called to order at 6:00 p.m. 1.A ROLL CALL Present: 7 - Chair Maria Ruth, Committee member Barbara Benson, Committee member Kyle Guzlas, Committee member Rhianna Hruska, Committee member Brock Milliern, Committee member Kim Murillo and Committee member Rhonda Olnick 2. APPROVAL OF AGENDA The agenda was approved. 3. APPROVAL OF MINUTES 3.A 20-0045 Approval of October 17, 2019 Parks and Recreation Advisory Committee Meeting Minutes The minutes were corrected to show Committee member Benson was not present at the October 17, 2019 meeting. The minutes were approved as amended. 4. PUBLIC COMMENT - None 5. ANNOUNCEMENTS The Yelm Highway Community Park master plan survey results have been compiled and are posted online. The Woodruff Park court reconstruction project bid opening was this week and a bid came in just below the engineer's estimate. The Aquatic Center Feasibility Study RFQ process had eight consultant teams that applied and are now being screened - Committee member Olnick volunteered to be on the interview panel. The LBA Field #3 accessible path project is in process. There is a volunteer work party planned for MLK day at LBA Woods. Several small projects were implemented in the parks based on PRAC survey feedback. 6. BUSINESS ITEMS City of Olympia Page 1 Parks and Recreation Advisory Meeting Minutes January 16, 2020 Committee 6.A 20-0046 Update on Pesticide Free Parks Program Park Planning and Maintenance Director Jonathon Turlove presented a PowerPoint presentation regarding the department's Pesticide Free Parks Program. Members asked clarifying questions. The report was received. 6.B 20-0048 New PRAC Member Application Screening Members reviewed ten applications for vacant PRAC positions and recommended the following five candidates to be interviewed by the General Government Committee: Oliver Wu, Tiffany Sandy, Brent Barnes, Bill Clarke, and Spence Cearns. A motion was made to forward five candidates to General Government Committee for interviews. The motion passed unanimously. 6.C 20-0047 Draft PRAC 2020-2021 Work Plan and Officer Elections The Committee reviewed the draft 2020-2021 work plan. Members proposed adding to the work plan an opportunity to provide input on the Kaiser Woods trail plan. Members also suggested that the first meeting in which new members will be in attendance could start an hour early with that time utilized as an orientation for the new members. A motion was made to re-elect Maria Ruth as Chair and re-elect Brock Milliern as Vice Chair. The motion passed unanimously. 7. REPORTS A. North Capital Campus Heritage Park Development Association - No report B. Olympia metropolitan Park District (OMPD) Advisory Board - No report 8. FUTURE AGENDA ITEMS AND QUESTIONS OF STAFF Committee member Benson requested a discussion about the potential for installing outdoor fitness equipment geared towards seniors in a park. 9.
