1. CALL TO ORDER
Chair Grisham called the meeting to order at 6:00 p.m.

20-0133 Discussion with Colin DeForrest
Olympia's Homeless Response Coordinator Colin DeForrest met with Commissioners to
share his experience with a homelessness-focused, Artist-In-Residence program while
he worked for the City of Tacoma. With regards to Olympia, he affirmed that any type of
artist engagement would be welcome in any of the City sites serving unsheltered citizens.
He offered to act as a sounding board as Commissioners worked to develop a program
proposal.

20-0134 2020 Arts Commission Work Plan and Municipal Art Plan

Commissioner Dorgan brought attention to item 1.4 on the proposed work plan. She
questioned whether an Artist-In-Residency should be limited to visual arts.
Commissioners agreed to take out the word "visual," twice listed in the text. No changes
were made to the draft Municipal Art Plan.
Commissioner McManus moved, seconded by Commissioner Dorgan, to
recommend the 2020 Municipal Art Plan and Work Plan as amended to the
General Government Committee. The motion passed unanimously.
7. REPORTS
20-0136 Policy and Program Recommendations to City Council
Commissioner Hicks noted there was good constituent turnout for the 22nd District at this
year's Arts, Heritage and Science Day. She noted the Olympia Symphony Orchestra
Executive Director shared with the group that 185 applicants had responded to the
conductor search, which the Director considered a good indicator of Olympia's presence
as an arts community and a positive reflection on the orchestra as well.

20-0137 Arts Program Support
Ms. Johnson shared the upcoming Arts Walk poster proof, featuring the artwork
"Fluttering" by Laurel Henn. Commissioners shared their enthusiasm for the image.
Ms. Johnson also shared images and an update on the West Bay Art Crossing project.
The Eastside Street Art Crossing Call for Art will go to the General Government
Committee Tuesday, February 26.

20-0138 2019 ArCH Support
Vice-Chair Dobler provided an update on Keystone planning, sharing with
Commissioners the schedule of events as it stands now.
