1. CALL TO ORDER
Chair Langer called the meeting to order at 5:34 p.m.

The agenda was approved.

The minutes were approved.

The following people spoke: Karen Messmer and Bev Bassett.
5. ANNOUNCEMENTS
The next Commission meetings are scheduled for Wednesday, September 13, 2017 and
Tuesday, September 19, 2017.

Salary Commission Meeting Minutes August 24, 2017
Administrative Services Deputy Director Debbie Sullivan presented information the
Commission requested during the August 3, 2017 meeting. Ms. Sullivan reviewed criteria
established, comparative data results and options available to the Commission.
The Commission determined more information was needed. They requested staff to
gather the following information:
- City job classifications including salary
- City budget
- Historical cost of living adjustments provided to independent City employees from 2008
through 2017
- Cash value of medical benefits offered to independent City employees including
"opt-out" incentives
- Cost of comparable medical plans to plans offered to City employees
- Salary compensation for Not-for-Profit organizations
- Salary compensation for Board Members of private corporations
- Department of Retirement Services information for Elected Officials
- Full-Time Equivalent calculation for current City Council
The discussion was completed.
7. REPORTS - None
8. OTHER TOPICS
The Commission wants to ensure the public knows about these meetings and has an
opportunity to express opinions. They asked the citizens present how they heard about
the meeting. Both responded they check the website and go into the City's full calendar.
They reported this meeting wasn’t posted on the Daily Meetings Side Bar.
They also suggested notifying the Coalition of Neighborhood Associations, utilizing
Facebook and Twitter, as well as ensuring the meeting appears on the home page of the
City’s website.

Chair Langer adjourned the meeting at 6:57 p.m.
