1. CALL TO ORDER
Co-Chair Chan called the meeting to order at 6:05 p.m.
Commissioner Mohamedali noted they had another commitment and had to leave at 7:30
p.m.

Present: 5 - Co-Chair Genevieve Chan, Commissioner Rachelle Martin,
Commissioner Fauziya Mohamedali, Commissioner Wesley Nguyen
and Commissioner Larry Watkinson
Excused: 2 - Commissioner Parfait Bassalé and Commissioner Marianne
Ozmun-Wells
Absent: 1 - Commissioner Omar Santana-Gomez
2. APPROVAL OF AGENDA
The agenda was approved.

3.A 23-0287 Approval of February 27, 2023 Social Justice and Equity Commission
Meeting Minutes
The minutes were approved.
4. PUBLIC COMMENT - None
5. ANNOUNCEMENTS
Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Program Manager Tobi Hill-Meyer gave the following
announcements:
· The Social Justice and Equity Committee (SJEC) retreat will take place on May
27.Commissioner Watkinson will not be in attendance.
· Upcoming proclamations for City Council include Transgender Day of Visibility,
Earth Day, Jewish American Heritage Month and Asian Pacific Heritage Month.

· Commissioner Sarah Lloyd stepped down on March 2 and Commissioner Omar
Santana-Gomez is stepping down after tonight’s meeting.
· City Council is anticipated to approve three appointments to SJEC on March 28.
6. BUSINESS ITEMS
6.A 23-0262 Discussion on Lodging Tax Application and Award Process Improvement
Economic Development Director Mike Reid gave a presentation and Commissioners
asked clarifying questions. Discussion was not complete and will continue next month.
The discussion was continued to the April 24 meeting.

Co-Chair Election
Commissioner Mohamedali left at 7:30 p.m. so there was no longer a quorum.
The decision was postponed and referred to the April 24, 2023 meeting.
