Stat. § 19.84, notice is hereby given to the public by the Village President, that the following meeting will be held: Meeting: Ad Hoc Public Art Committee Date: Wednesday, January 10, 2024 Location: Village Hall Community Room (Second Floor) Time: 5:00 PM 101 Alpine Parkway, Oregon, WI 53575 f Note: Any person who has a qualifying disability as defined by the Americans with Disabilities Act that requires the meeting or materials at the meeting to be in an accessible location or format must contact the Village Clerk at (608) 835-3118, 101 Alpine Parkway, Oregon, Wisconsin, at least twenty-four (24) hours prior to the commencement of the meeting so that any necessary arrangements can be made to accommodate each request. MEETING MINUTES Public Art Committee 1/10/24 Meeting 1) Meeting called to order by Michelle Marx at 5:00 p.m. 2) Roll call: Present: Doris Deits, Randy Glysch, Marilea Groves, Jeanne Carpenter, Michelle Marx, Jason Mahnke Absent: Desere Mayo 3) Approval of Minutes Randy Glysch moved the approval of the December 13, 2023 meeting minutes. Doris Deits seconded. Unanimously approved. 4) Public Appearances and Communication None 5) Business a. New Business i. Discuss RFP – Randy Glysch combined his and Doris Deits’ RFP to make it one document. Randy will check with Martin to see if we need Board approval to post it. ii. Sculpture choices – The group chose 8 sculptures to acquire and be placed around the Village in 2024. There are also 3 back-up sculpture choices in case some of those chosen are not available. There may be additional sculptures sponsored by private businesses to be placed around the Village. As of now, Heartland Credit Union, the Firefly, Hy-Vee, and One Community Bank want to Page 1 of 2 Approved 2/6/2024 sponsor sculptures. Randy Glysch moved the acceptance of the sculpture choices. Michelle Marx seconded. Unanimously approved. iii. Art Fair Application – applications have begun to come in for the 2024 Public Art Fair. Currently, there are 10 applicants. b. Unfinished Business i. Tent Pricing for 2024 Public Art Fair – the group decided not to rent a large tent for all the participants. Each participant will be encouraged to bring their own for their booth. The Public Art Committee will provide smaller tents for the up- and-coming artists from Oregon High School. ii. Concrete Wall in front of Pure Integrity Homes – Michelle Marx has not had the opportunity to reach out to the business owner, yet. iii. Confirm availability of the Oregon Community Resource Funding – We have received the money, and it is available for the Committee’s use. iv. Review the $20,000 Madison Community Foundation grant – Randy Glysch reported we received $10,000 from this grant. We were one of 92 applicants. 19 total applicants received funds. v. Interactive sculpture display – Marilea Groves put together a drawing of the interactive sculpture. Randy Glysch will get a quote for fabricating the design out of metal and a wrap to go around the finished product. vi. Sponsorships for the 2024 Art Fair – request for sponsorships have been made. We are waiting to hear back from most of those who were asked to sponsor. Randy Glysch reported that Bergey Jewelry will provide a $100 sponsorship. vii. Art Fair Booth Layout – Michelle Marx has recruited Francis Stanton to help plot the layout for the booths for the 2024 Public Art Fair. 6) Future Agenda Items None 7) Next meeting date and time Tuesday, February 6, 2024 at 5:00 p.m. 8) Adjournment Michelle Marx moved to adjourn the meeting.
