Stat. § 19.84, notice is hereby given to the public by the Village President, that the following meeting will be held: Meeting: Ad Hoc Public Art Committee Date: Wednesday, May 1, 2024 Location: Village Hall Community Room (Second Floor) Time: 5:00 PM 101 Alpine Parkway, Oregon, WI 53575 f Note: Any person who has a qualifying disability as defined by the Americans with Disabilities Act that requires the meeting or materials at the meeting to be in an accessible location or format must contact the Village Clerk at (608) 835-3118, 101 Alpine Parkway, Oregon, Wisconsin, at least twenty-four (24) hours prior to the commencement of the meeting so that any necessary arrangements can be made to accommodate each request. MEETING MINUTES 1) Call to order. 2) Roll call. Present: Randy Glysch, Marilea Groves, Michelle Marx, Desere Mayo, Jeanne Carpenter Absent: Doris Deits, Jason Mahnke (Village Board Representative) 3) Approval of minutes. a) April 03, 2024 Marilea Groves moved to approve, Randy Glysch seconded. Passed unanimously. 4) Public Appearances and Communication (Items are for Discussion and Possible Action). a) Francine Tompkins 14 South Artists now has 58 members and is running out of room to display members’ art inside the downtown 14 South Artists Pump House Gallery. 14 South is interested in seeing if the Oregon Public Art Committee would like to partner and expand the placement of art inside Oregon Village Hall and the Oregon Public Library. 14 South would be willing to jury artists to display in public spaces and handle sales of artwork. The committee agreed to put this on next month’s agenda to discuss further. 5) Business (Items are for discussion and/or potential action). a) New Business 1. Confirm T-shirt order: 150 t-shirts were ordered and will be sold at the Art Fair and at Firefly Coffeehouse for $10 each. 2. Update regarding utility box wrap and design: put on next week’s agenda, need to find room for approved Ethan Groves and Aiden Grudich. Need to secure utility boxes for the designs. Randy will work to secure the boxes. 3. Draft of the Art Fair Layout from Francis and Michelle: final booth layout is set, and artists have been assigned spots. There are two extra spots available. 4. Interactive Sculpture, site location, and donations from the Senior Class of 24’: an interactive sculpture is proposed to be placed on the walking path on school property near the playing fields. Michelle and Randy are scheduling a meeting with Superintendent Leslie Bergstrom to discuss, and Michelle is meeting with Page 1 of 2 Approved 06/05/2024 the Class of 2024 to see if they would like to sponsor the sculpture for $1,000. If the class declines, the committee will explore placing the sculpture on village-owned property. 5. Vending permits for 2024 Art Fair Food Trucks: Lions Club and Barbecue Truck are confirmed and need to return vending permit forms. 6. Discuss new artists submission of Buffalo Sculptures: we are actively seeking to work with local artists as well as the Eau Claire art, which is being delivered on May 22. In the spirit of celebrating local artists, Randy is working with a new artist to place a Buffalo sculpture that will be placed on an arm that can move with the wind. Randy moved, Marilea seconded approaching the owner for an agreement. Unanimously approved. 7. 2024 Art Fair Booth layouts have been finalized. All artists have been notified. b) Old Business 1. Baseball mural design and youth participation for Remax wall mural. Marilea is working on the design for the baseball vinyl mural. Talks are continuing with Remax on installing a mural involving community children. 2. 2024 Art Fair Booths. 6) Future agenda items and/or member assignments. a) Need volunteers for June 8 art fair and extra tables and tents. b) Locate Art Fair banner and determine location day of event. c) Need volunteers for June 7 marking booths, 2-5pm d) Update regarding utility box wrap and design – Randy e) Discuss proposal from 14 South Artists on partnership – all committee f) Contact Channel 15 to see if interested in doing live report – Michelle g) Interactive Sculpture, site location, and donations from the Senior Class of 24’ - Michelle 7) Schedule the next meeting date & time: Wednesday June 5, 2024 at 5:00 pm 8) Adjournment. Randy moved to adjourn; Desiree seconded. Passed unanimously.
