Oroville Planning Commission Wednesday, November 19, 2014 Present: Commissioners Suzi Seger and Alternate Commissioner Arnie Marchand. Marc Egerton arrived at 5:20. Absent: Judy Dunston and Valorie Johnston. One vacant position. Staff present: Chris Branch and Deanna Rowton. Since there was not a quorum present, there was discussion with no decisions being made. Visitor Paul Bouchard questioned what it takes to get a public dog park going in our community. Chris Branch stated the short answer to be, “council action”. Chris then went on to explain the issues that would need to be determined, such as fences and a variety of options to be decided upon. The current city ordinance regarding “the Keeping of Animals” was looked at and discussed. It was generally agreed that the phrase “except as in designated dog parks” be included in the draft in order to cover future possibilities of dog parks, etc. Upon Marc’s arrival at 5:20 the meeting was called to order by Suzi Seger. Marc made a motion to approve the minutes of the last meeting, it was seconded by Arnie and the motion carried. There was continued discussion on the current animal ordianance. Exotic animals and their definitions were discussed. Other discussion included: noise and other nuisances, the size of parcels and number of animals allowed, roaming and pens, defining what “livestock” is to include, wild versus domesticated, and many other definitions and details. The meeting was adjourned at 6:10. Next meeting to be held Wednesday, December 17th, 2014 at 4:30 pm. 1
