Public Safety Committee

PROCEEDINGS OF THE VILLAGE OF OXFORD PUBLIC SAFETY COMMITTEE The Public Safety Committee of the Village of Oxford, Marquette County, Wisconsin met in regular session at 5:30 PM on Wednesday, March 12, 2025, in the Council Room of the Oxford Village Hall. The meeting was called to order by Chairman Sorensen at 5:30 PM. Members of the committee present were: Chairman Sorensen, J. Drinkwater, B. Holtz; Also present were Chief Kowalski, Clerk-Treasurer Maier and Deputy Clerk-Treasurer Kongslie. Trustees L. Drinkwater & Wastart were also in attendance. Motion made by Holtz/J. Drinkwater to approve the agenda. WSSCA (Wisconsin School Safety Coordinators Association) Chief Kowalski explained the WSSCA to the committee, and the upcoming course regarding Certification in School Safety. He would like to take the 60- hour course they are offering, as there is only one certified employee in Marquette County at the Montello High School. He would do this on his own, but is inquiring if the Committee and Village Board may appropriate funds to cover some of the costs. Trustee Wastart will take to the School Board as well, to see if they are interested in covering any of the expense. Discussion tabled until the next Public Safety Committee meeting. Posting for Part-time Officer – Brief discussion regarding the agreed upon roster of the Oxford Police Dept and Village Board, of four (4) Officers. Chief Kowalski will post the position that is open at the County Sheriff’s Office and on the Village website. Motion by Holtz/J. Drinkwater to go into Closed Session to discuss employee matters under Wisconsin State Statute 19.85 (1) (C), carried with a Roll Call vote with all Committee members voting “Aye”. Motion by J. Drinkwater/Holtz to reconvene to Open Session under Wisconsin State Statute 19.85 (2), carried with a Roll Call vote with all Committee members voting “Aye”. No motions or further discussion regarding the Closed Session occurred. Motion by Holtz/J. Drinkwater to adjourn at 6:10 PM. Motion carried. ____________________________________ Amy J.
