PROCEEDINGS OF THE PUBLIC WORKS COMMITTEE
The Public Works Committee of the Village of Oxford, Marquette County, Wisconsin
met on Tuesday, July 8, 2025, in the Council Room of the Oxford Village Hall. Chairman
Zacharias called the meeting to order at 3:04 PM with Committee Members: Martin present,
Wastart not present, also in attendance were President Drinkwater, Trustee L. Drinkwater, Public
Works Director Mullens, Clerk-Treasurer Maier and Deputy Clerk-Treasurer Kongslie, and
Zoning Committee Member Andy Henschel.
Motion made by Drinkwater/Martin to approve the agenda as printed. Motion carried.
Chairman Zacharias called this meeting to discuss the Village Public Works 2026 Budget items
that need to be considered this fall.
Street Sweeper: Discussion regarding the Village’s options for replacing the street sweeper.
The Village has a finishing mower that attaches to the tractor that has rarely been used, valued at
$9,000.00, and the street sweeper that can be sold to help defer the cost of getting a broom and
hydraulic unit for the tractor. A motion by President Drinkwater/Martin to have P.W. Director
Mullens get a figure on the value of the street sweeper, set the reserve price, and after board
approval, list the street sweeper on Wisconsin Surplus and the finishing mower on consignment
at Reisterer-Schnell in Westfield. Motion carried.
The Red Bridge project is on the Marquette County Highway Dept docket for July.
Dam Repairs & Upgrades: All items listed by the DNR to be updated or repaired have been
completed and documented with photos, except the door to the pump house and the Gantry
System for dewatering when inspections need to be done on the dam. The door will be changed
withing the next couple of weeks. The inspection needs to be completed, and all items need to be
completed by 2027.
Flooring Replacement and/or Repairs to the Community Room and Maintenance Shop: A
proposal was received by Director Mullens to replace the flooring tile in the Community Room
of $6,916.00 from McCartney Carpet, Inc., in 2026. The floor in the Ambulance Bay of the
Maintenance shop is badly pitted. Director Mullens will investigate repairing the floor and bring
quotes to the committee for 2026 Budget.
Future Storm Sewer Projects: Director Mullens discussed Johnson’s property on Chauncey
Street. For three years he has been filling a sink hole occasionally. This year, with the heavy
rainfall, there are now two larger sink holes. He believes one of the storm sewers has separated
and will have Country Plumber come and televise it to determine the issue. Jaeger St. and
Franklin Ave. junction: there is a deep drop off where these two streets meet. Rain/snow/ice
settle there and need to be corrected in 2026. Chairman Zacharias and Director Mullens will
further investigate.
Future Tree Work: During the last storms, a few limbs fell with one landing on the bench in the
school front lot. The trees surrounding the school are very old and need to be either removed or
trimmed up. Director Mullens will get an estimate from Driscoll and report to the Board.
Warning Siren and Possible Repairs/Replacement: The warning siren has been in place since
the Fire Department was here in the building. The motor is in need of repair and Director
Mullens will get and estimate.
Motion to adjourn by Drinkwater/Zacharias at 4:11 PM. Motion carried
