Palmyra Police & Fire Commission Minutes Wednesday November 15, 2023 Palmyra Village Hall 6:00 P.M. The meeting was called to order at 6:00pm by Chairperson Shellee Lubus. Roll call: Lubus, Stefanczyk, Bealhen, Dooley, – present. Simmons – Excused. Guests – Public Safety Director Scott Pavlock Motion by Dooley – second by Lubus to approve minutes from August 31, 2023 Business: Discuss general picture of both departments since Scott’s hire. Motion by Bealhen – second by Stefanczyk to enter closed session. Roll call - All Ayes, motion carried. Closed Session Business: Discuss issues with Scott regarding procedures, training, & future hiring needs for both departments. Discuss the possible appointment of Scott Pavlock as the Chief of Police in addition to his current position of Public Safety Director. Motion by Stefanczyk – second by Lubus to reconvene to open session. Roll call – All Ayes, motion carried. Motion by Dooley – second by Stefanczyk to inform the Palmyra Village board of the decision by this commission to appoint Scott D. Pavlock for the position of Chief of Police for the Village of Palmyra. Roll call – All Ayes, motion carried. Motion by Bealhen – second by Dooley to Adjourn. Roll call - All Ayes – motion carried. AGENDA Police and Fire Commission meeting Wednesday Nov. 15, 2023 100 W. Taft St. Palmyra Village Hall 6:00 p.m. Call to Order Roll Call Business Approval of Minutes: August 31, 2023 1. You are hereby notified that the Police & Fire Commission of the Village of Palmyra will meet on November 15, 2023 at the Village Hall meeting room, 100 W. Taft St. at 6:00 p.m. At said time and place the Commission will convene into closed session. 2. After the meeting has been properly convened, the President will announce to all those present the purpose of the meeting and the fact that the Commission intends to convene in closed session for the above-delineated purposes. Upon motion duly made and seconded and acted upon by the majority of the members present as required under §19.85(1)(a), Stats., the closed session will take place. 3. The purpose of the meeting is for considering the potential hiring of a public employee over which the Commission has jurisdiction or exercises authority pursuant to §19.85(1)(c). Specifically, to discuss Public Safety Personnel issues. 4. The Commission will then reconvene into Open Session for purposes of potential additional discussion and/or action on matters discussed in closed session and adjournment.
