PARK AND REC COMMITTEE MEETING MINUTES Village Hall Board Room Thursday, June 27, 2024 6:00 pm Call to Order: Tammie Smith at 6PM Roll Call: Angela, Tammie, Stephanie, Absent John Kinjerski – Citizens Cindy Bontempo Business Stephanie would like to do a gun raffle. Wanted to know if Laurie checked with lawyer to make sure village not held liable. Tamme will check with Laurie. Beats on Beach was cancelled due to storms, moved to July 27th. This was the only time the band was available. Baseball tournaments are out of town that weekend and Stephanie cannot work the event. Most parents will also be out of town to watch the tournament. We will need to find a couple of people to work on the event with the beautification team. Food prep will be taken care of by Jill Kahn. Brats, hot dogs, chips, soda, beer, wine have already been purchased. The beach house will also have popsicles and water. The check for the band has already been cut. Event takes place from 4-8pm the band will play from 5-8pm. There will also be a 50/50 raffle and need someone to sell tickets. Angela said the goal to beat is $424.00 in raffle tickets. Brew with a View is scheduled for September 14th. Adult volleyball registration is open, $80.00 per team. Currently have 2 teams, need more teams. Starts at the end of July and runs for 6 weeks. Will not be giving all the money back, portion of the money will be split per winning teams. Adult men’s basketball started at the beginning of June through August. Every Thursday. Stephanie will be starting meditation that will be held at the Montessori School. Still working on details as to when and how many weeks each session will run. Only Stephanie can get the key for the Montessori School. Looking for a backup Meditation instructor will have to accept terms and be there when people are in the building. Football and Flag football will be starting mid-August games start weekend after Labor Day. Stephanie to start Park and Rec Face Book Account – Tammie will get the social media policy to Stephanie. Stephanie said she has more time in July, so it is a good time for her to look into. Montessori School (Joel Tortomasi) is trying to work with Park & Rec. School is trying to be a hub and not taking over Park and Rec. There is a special fund for the program – fund 80 also called spackle group. Kathy Weiss approved of the tennis courts. Blue lines added for pickle ball. The net is in place. Discussed possibly renting out pickle ball rackets/balls. A fee would still need to be discussed along with fee for not returning equipment or if equipment is returned damaged. Stephanie will get a quote for equipment. Stephanie is looking to get new floating devices for the lifeguards. They asked for floating devices to be like what they used when they became certified. Tammie will be checking to see if Stephanie can just purchase them through her budget or if she needs board approval. Stephanie would like to try and offer corn hole next year. Stephanie to work with Angela on placement of the raft. Stephanie would like a picture as to where the raft is placed so she can show it to the lifeguards. Lifeguards will be asked to make sure the raft is in the correct location each day. Angela will get back to Stephanie. Stephanie has 2 more people wanting to be lifeguards. They still need to get certified. Their schedule lines up with the 2 lifeguards that we already have but will work nicely with the schedule. Lifeguards have been confronted the beach was still closed. Stephanie instructed the lifeguards next time have them call her at Park & Rec’s phone number. Discussion/possible action regarding Recreation Dept. programs/activities. 3. Discussion/possible action on the pickle ball court. 4.
