Minutes of the Papillion Public Library Board of Advisors Monday, November 14, 2022 The Board of Advisors of Papillion Public Library met in an open and public session at Sump Memorial Library on November 14, 2022, at 4:31pm A. Call to order: The meeting was called to order by Library Board Vice-Chair Doug Rodgers at 4:31pm. 1. Roll call: Present were Board Members Doug Rodgers, Erin Jones, and Stephanie Albers. Absent: Mellissa Panko, Peggy Montgomery. Also present were Library Director Matt Kovar, Assistant Library Director Lacey Partlow, and Library Secretary Joey Sears. 2. Affidavit of Publication in the Sarpy County Guide & News: Notice of the meeting was given to the Sarpy County Guide & News, the designated method of giving notice. 3. Public announcement that a current copy of the Open Meetings Act is posted in the meeting room. B. Meeting Approval Items 1. Approval of Agenda: Motion to approve the agenda: Jones; Second: Albers. Roll Vote: Albers: yes, Jones: yes, Montgomery: absent, Panko: absent, Rodgers: yes. Motion carried. 2. Approval of the Minutes of the October 14, 2022, Board Meeting: Motion: Albers; Second: Jones. Roll Vote: Albers: yes, Jones: yes, Montgomery: absent, Panko: absent, Rodgers: yes. Motion carried. C. Library Director’s Report 1. Correspondence and Communications: None. 2. Financial Report: The current financial report reflects one month of the fiscal year complete with 7 percent of the budget spent. Tomorrow the city council will be doing a second reading of the carryover amendment. If passed, it would allow monies to be carried forward from one fiscal year to the next. 3. Library Board Report: a. Due to an absent staff member, some of the stats were left out of original packet but were provided at the meeting. b. The biggest upcoming event is Winter Wonderland on the 26th. c. Discussed library outreach events at preschools and Sarpy Head Start Program. d. Several staff members are running for the Nebraska Library Association board. e. Celebration of Trees event is this Friday that goes to support the nonprofit Sheltering Tree. f. The Digital Library Supervisor presented a Glowforge demonstration to HAL students from the Papillion-La Vista School District. g. Discussed the addition of calming boxes to the Youth Services desk and the Digital Library for patrons with sensory processing disorders. h. The drainage project on north lawn has been completed. i. The Library Director and Assistant Director met with an architect to discuss the creation of the Wellness Room. D. Agenda Items 1. Old Business: a. Policy Reviews: None 2. New Business: a. Meeting adjourned at 4:54 pm. The next meeting will be December 12, 2022, at 4:30 pm.
