CALL TO ORDER
Committee Chairperson Kucher-Johnson called the meeting to order at 9:00
a.m.
On behalf of the Committee, Chairperson Kucher-Johnson offered the following
Treaty 6 lands acknowledgement:
We acknowledge that we are located on the lands of Treaty 6 which is the
traditional home of the Cree, Dene, Saulteaux, Blackfoot, Nakota Sioux
nations, members of the Metis nations of Alberta, Inuit and all First Nations
sharing this land for generations. We recognize the long history and
contributions of Indigenous peoples who’ve cared for this land from time
immemorial to the present. We acknowledge that we are all treaty people
bound to one another by the spirit and intent of treaty as long as the sun
shines, the grass grows, and the river flows.

ADOPTION OF AGENDA
A motion was made by Committee Member Wiedeman that the October 15,
2024 Governance and Priorities Committee meeting agenda be adopted, as
presented.
The motion carried unanimously.
NEW BUSINESS
Mayor and Council Member Matters
NM 24-4 Notice of Motion - Municipal Government Act - Council Code of Conduct
Take notice that at the next regular meeting of Council, Council Member
Weideman will move:
1. That Council request that the Alberta Government remove from the
Municipal Government Act, Section 146, Bylaws - codes of conduct.
2. That Council direct administration to work with the Alberta Government on
any engagement related Municipal Government Act requirements under the
code of conduct.

Proposed Motion
That the Operations Services update be received for information, as
presented.
Trent Tompkins, Neil Jamieson and Jody Hancock presented the Operations
Service Division update.
Committee Member Mayor Gamble left the meeting at 9:57 a.m. and returned
to the meeting at 10:01 a.m.
Committee Member Birnie left the meeting at 10:09 a.m. and returned to the
meeting at 10:11 a.m.
RECESS
Chairperson Kucher-Johnson recessed the meeting at 10:21 a.m., and
reconvened the meeting at 10:35 a.m.

Proposed Motion
That the Operations Services update be received for information, as
presented.
Administration completed the Operation Services Division update.

A motion was made by Committee Member Kowalski that the Federation of

Proposed Motion
That the Committee convene in closed session pursuant to Section 197 of the
Municipal Government Act to meet in private to discuss matters protected
from disclosure by Sections 23 and 24 of the Freedom of Information and
Protection of Privacy Act.
A motion was made by Committee Member Weideman that the Committee
convene in closed session at 10:53 a.m. pursuant to Section 197 of the
Municipal Government Act to meet in private to discuss matters protected from
disclosure by Sections 23 and 24 of the Freedom of Information and Protection
of Privacy Act.
The motion carried unanimously.

Chairperson Kucher-Johnson recessed the meeting at 10:53 a.m., and
reconvened the meeting at 11:01 a.m.
