We recognize the long history and contributions of Indigenous peoples who've cared for this land from time immemorial to the present. We acknowledge that we are all treaty people bound to one another by the spirit and intent of treaty as long as the sun shines, the grass grows, and the river flows. Committee Member Birnie attended the meeting virtually. The motion carried unanimously. ADOPTION OF MINUTES MIN 25-003 Adoption of December 3, 2024 Governance and Priorities Committee Meeting Minutes Proposed Motion That the December 4, 2024 Governance and Priorities Committee Meeting Minutes be adopted, as presented. A motion was made by Committee Member Kucher-Johnson that the December 3, 2024 Governance and Priorities Committee meeting minutes be adopted, as presented. The motion carried unanimously. Committee Chairperson Kowalski asked the gallery if there were any matters that the public wished to bring to the attention of Parkland County. No one came forward. A motion was made by Committee Member Kobasiuk that the Federation of Canadian Municipalities update be received for information, as presented. The motion carried unanimously. COM 25-006 Rural Municipalities of Alberta Contact Newsletter Proposed Motion That the Rural Municipalities of Alberta Contact Newsletter be received for information, as presented. A motion was made by Committee Member Wiedman that the Rural Municipalities of Alberta Contact Newsletter be received for information, as presented. The motion carried unanimously. NEW BUSINESS Mayor and Council Member Matters NM 25-002 Notice of Motion - Land Use Bylaw Public Engagement Take notice that at the next regular meeting of Council on January 28, 2025 Council Member Kowalski will move that administration be directed to include public engagement opportunities in Division 1, 2 and Acheson to properly fulfill public engagement County wide. A motion was made by Committee Member Mayor Gamble that the Committee revert to regular meeting session at 10:08 a.m. The motion carried unanimously. Ryan Hoetmer Evansburg - Sgt. Jeff Sutherland Parkland Detachment - Inspector Kevin McGillivray Proposed Motion That the RCMP Quarterly update be received for information, as presented. S/Sgt. Ryan Hoetmer, Sgt. Jeff Sutherland, and Inspector Kevin McGillivray presented the RCMP Quarterly update.
