She shares sentiments with Councilwoman Lime that they have had an influx of these properties that are not well maintained and are causing hardships for adjacent neighbors. Is requesting Council’s support and they can work together to figure out a way to mitigate this in a more expeditious way. There are over 55 tires in the backyard. That is just one of the violations. It is not fair for any neighbor that lives around that property. Asked for Council’s support. No: None; Resolution No. 148-25 is adopted ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- PUBLIC SESSION Representative of Kimble – Stated he wanted to be here to answer any questions regarding the capabilities or concerns of Kimble taking on a job like Parma. Stated they are fully capable, they have the trucks, people, financial resources to make it all happen. Stated they are more than welcome to bring anyone to tour their facilities. Stated that the cost savings are well over $1 million. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Gary Konieczka, 3115 Tuxedo Avenue -Stated what he likes about Rumpke is their weekly bulk pick up. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Representative of Rumpke Waste and Recycling – Stated they have been an integral part of Parma for the last five years. They have a lot of staff members that work in the City. They want to keep doing a great job. Stated to feel free to reach out to him for any service needs or questions. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- John Toman, 8113 Pelham – Thanked Council for the passage of the Nuisance Resolution on Pelham. He is a neighbor of the property, and it has been a long and difficult battle for them. 6  MISCELLANEOUS BUSINESS Mayor DeGeeter – Introduced Marcus who is a recent graduate of Normandy High School where he was an athlete and Class President, along with Vice President Logan Saban. Marcus was here to shadow the Mayor all day. He is an outstanding young man, and he wishes him well. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Safety Director Coury – No comment. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Service Director – Stated Rumpke is our current provider who has been doing a very satisfactory job. The city certainly doesn’t want to put residents through changing out 60,000 plus bins. Rumpke also has a better rating with the BBB. They have a supervisor in our community daily for their routes to help with missed pickups and a number of other things. Rumpke meets with the Service Director, the Public Works Coordinator and the Clerk of Council, biweekly, to discuss any ongoing problems. They are also very proactive in trying to figure out how they can provide better services to us. The contract provides dumpster services to all city buildings at no additional cost. Most importantly, the Rumpke Transfer Station is three times closer to the City of Parma than Kimble. Rumpke takes their garbage to Broadview Heights. Kimble will take it to Twinsburg. That is a 45-minute Drive. We have unlimited bulk waste pick up, and that is a big reason why garbage companies take garbage to a transfer station mid-day in the middle of the routes in each of the wards. Making a round trip of an hour and a half is not something we are in a position to wait for. Feels missed pick-ups is something that would go in the wrong direction for them. Stated he is not here to say anything negative about Kimble, but he feels Rumpke is the better pick. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Auditor Day – No comment. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Law Director Tuma – Wished Marcus good luck. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Treasurer Mastroianni – No comment. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Councilwoman Zacharias – No comment. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Councilwoman Boyd – Stated her Safety Meeting Rain Date will be Thursday, August 7th, in the Parma Circle. Everyone is welcome. Thanked everyone for their help with the success of We are Parma Proud Picnic held on Saturday, August 2nd. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Councilwoman Wilson – Stated the Ward 1 and 2 Safety Meeting is scheduled for September 18th at Fire Station #1 on Pearl Road. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Councilman Soeder – No comment. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Councilman Euerle – Stated he had an opportunity to go to the OVI Checkpoint last week. Wanted to thank the Auxiliary Police who count every car that goes into the check point. He also had an opportunity to ride with the Police. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Councilman Divis – Wished Marcus good luck. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Councilman Kussmaul – Congratulated Marcus on everything he accomplished at Normandy and best of luck. Thanked the Safety Director, safety forces, Mayor, Law Director and Congressman Miller for attending his Safety Meeting last month. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 7  Councilwoman Shuman – Wanted everyone to recognize how lucky we are to have each other. Not all City Officials, in other cities, get along and they don’t work well together. She is proud that we all work well together, and we make sure that our residents are served by being nonpartisan and taking care of them no matter what party they are in. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Councilwoman Lime – Thanked the Mayor and Service Department for their help with We Are Parma Proud Picnic. It was a great event and turnout. Thanked Council for their support with the Nuisance Resolutions. Stated they must clean up the properties and make sure the properties are being addressed. Thanked Council for their support with the Resolution of Intent to exchange property with the Schools. Stated that the Safety Fair is on Saturday, August 9th from 11 to 2.
