CITY OF PELICAN RAPIDS COUNCIL SEPTEMBER 2, 1997 -- MINUTES (Reconvened from 8-27-97) The City Council of Pelican Rapids met on Tuesday, 9/2/97 at 7:50 p.m. in the Pelican Rapids Public Library Meeting Room. PRESENT: Mayor Wayne Runningen, Council Members Paulette Nettestad, George Hanson, Denise Magnusson and Dave Gottenborg. ABSENT: None ALSO PRESENT: Administrative Assistant Richard A. Jenson, Deputy Clerk-Treasurer Glenys Ehlert, and Library Director Pam Westby. Meeting reconvened at 7:50 p.m. by Mayor Wayne Runningen. Library Director Pam Westby discussed expanding library parking to include alley behind library and City owned land north of alley. Mayor Runningen said we need to look at Pool, Parks and Library transfer. Council discussed need for more library hours. Administrative Assistant Richard A. Jenson reviewed pool operation and said the Park Board met with pool director Suzanne Leabo to discuss lesson and open swim schedule. Leabo said most parents liked evening swim lessons. Jenson said Park Board plans to provide more information to parents before lesson sign-up next year. Council Member George Hanson recommended adding 16,000 to budget for library for $4,000 towards basic budget and $12,000 towards Plan B increase of hours. Motion by Hanson and second by Magnusson to transfer balance of funds from Community Development Fund to the General Fund Street Improvement Funds as per Dan Rollie, CPA recommendation.
