CITY OF PELICAN RAPIDS COUNCIL MINUTES –08-14-00 The City Council of the City of Pelican Rapids met in regular session on Monday, 08-14- 00, at 6:30 p.m. in the Pelican Rapids Public Library meeting room. Present: Mayor Wayne Runningen, Council Members John Waller III, Paulette Nettestad, Denise Magnusson and Dave Gottenborg. Absent: none. Also present: Administrative Assistant Richard A. Jenson, Deputy Clerk-Treasurer Glenys Ehlert, Superintendent of Streets and Parks Vern Benson and Superintendent of Utilities Brent Frazier. Meeting called to order by Mayor Wayne Runningen. The following items were added to the agenda: Water Conservation Plan and Fire Department Meeting of 08-17-00. Motion by Magnusson, seconded by Nettestad to approve the minutes of 07-10-00 and 07-26-00 as presented. Motion passed unanimously. Motion by Gottenborg, seconded by Waller to approve the Accounts Payable Listing of 08-14-00 as presented. Motion passed unanimously. Council reviewed the Police Department Report. Superintendent of Streets and Parks Vern Benson reported on his departments’ activities. Superintendent of Utilities Brent Frazier reported on the water and wastewater departments. Administrative Assistant Richard A. Jenson reported on need for data compliance officer due to a new state law. Motion by Nettestad, seconded by Waller to appoint Richard A. Jenson as Data Compliance Officer. Motion passed unanimously. Frazier said that Leisch and Assoc. and the Minnesota Department of Health will share information on well study which will be done later this fall. Council reviewed the Preliminary Proposed Budget for 2001. Jenson reported that last year the levy amount was $407,009; total budget was $829,595; LGA was $290,075 and the special levy amount was $87,149. The Budget Committee will be Mayor Runningen and Council Member Gottenborg. Jenson reported on adopting a Water Conservation Plan as required by Department of Natural Resources. He received a letter approving the plan and needs a resolution approving the plan. Motion by Waller, seconded by Magnusson to introduce the following resolution adopting a Water Conservation Plan. (A complete text of the resolution is part of permanent public record in the city clerk’s office.) Voting yes: Mayor Runningen, Council Members Waller, Magnusson, Nettestad and Gottenborg. Voting no: none. A Fire Department meeting with members of the department, the City and townships will be at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday, 08-17-00 at the fire hall.
