City of Pelican Rapids Council Meeting Minutes-07-11-05
The City of Pelican Rapids City Council met in regular session at 5:30 p.m., Monday,
07-11-05, Council Chambers, City Hall, 315 N. Broadway. Mayor Wayne
Runningen, Council Members Ben Woessner, Richard Peterson, John E. Waller, III,
and David Gottenborg were present. No one was absent. Administrator Don Solga,
Clerk-Treasurer Glenys Ehlert, Liquor Store Manager Bob Leslie, Utilities
Superintendent Brent E. Frazier, Library Director Pam Westby and Tom Hintgen of
the Pelican Rapids Press were also present.
Mayor Runningen called meeting to order.
There were no additions or deletions to the agenda.
Liquor Store Manager Bob Leslie presented a sales report.
Council reviewed the minutes. Motion by Waller, seconded by Peterson to approve
the minutes of 06-13-05 and 06-28-05 as presented. Motion passed unanimously.
Council reviewed the Accounts Payable List. Motion by Gottenborg, seconded by
Woessner to approve the Accounts Payable List of 07-11-05 with the addition of
Northern Balance & Scale for WWTF service in the amount of $127 and the Library
Bill Listing approved by Library Board Member Gary Lage as presented. Motion
passed unanimously.
The Police Report was reviewed.
Utilities Superintendent Brent E. Frazier reported on well maintenance needed for
Well No. 5A. Well No. 9 is due for an inspection. Well No. 14 which is being
pumped by Park Region Cooperative to the Pelican River went down on 06-28-05,
for a period of time, probably due to electrical storm. It is back in service at this
time.
Thein Well has conducted borings for a new well to replace Well No. 14, east of BTD
building in the Industrial Park. The site looks great for a deep well. Thein Well has
installed a 2-inch monitoring well. This week Thein Well will drill a test well for a
shallow and deep well on the east side of Hwy. 59.
Frazier explained research on odor problem at the lagoons. Dr. Rein has conducted
some research. At the present time the water in the ponds is being re-circulated and
there has been a decrease in odor. He suggested the City Council tour the lagoons
at their meeting on 07-26-05 and Council agreed.
Library Director Pam Westby was present to review activities at the Library.
Administrator Don Solga reported on the street and park department.
Clerk-Treasurer Glenys Ehlert presented the 06-30-05 Clerk’s Recap Report and the
2004 Audit Report prepared by City Auditor Daniel Rollie, CPA.
Motion by Waller, seconded by Peterson to adjourn this meeting to 7:30 a.m.,
Friday, 07-15-05 as recommended by Mayor Runningen. Motion passed
unanimously.
