CITY OF PEORIA, ARIZONA PINE CONFERENCE ROOM October 09, 2018 A Regular Meeting of the Council Boards and Commissions Subcommittee of the City of Peoria, Arizona, was convened by Chairman Michael Finn in an open and public session at 8401 W. Monroe Street, Peoria, Arizona on October 09, 2018 at 5:30 p.m. Members Present: Chairperson Michael Finn, Subcommittee Member Bill Patena and Subcommittee Member Jon Edwards. Members Absent: None Other Municipal Officials Present: Vanessa Hickman, City Attorney; Linda Blas, Deputy City Clerk; John Sefton, Community Services Director; Chris Hallett, Neighborhood and Human Services Director; Robert Goodhue, Deputy Development Director; Adam Pruett, Planning Manager; Christine Nickel, Human Resources Manager; Marcella Carrillo, City Clerk Specialist and Irene Charlez, Council Assistant. Audience: One member of the public was present. Note: The order in which items appear in the minutes is not necessarily the order in which they were discussed in the meeting. Regular Agenda New Business 1 C. Minutes Motion was made by Councilmember Patena, seconded by Councilmember Edwards, to approve the minutes of the September 12, 2018 Council Boards and Commissions Subcommittee meeting. Upon vote, the motion carried unanimously 3 to 0. 2 R. Board and Commission Interviews The subcommittee interviewed Eryn Streeter and Ritika Ravindran for possible appointment to various boards and commissions. 3 R. Board and Commission Vacancies Discussion and possible action to appoint, reappoint, recruit, or schedule interviews for various City Boards and Commissions including, but not limited to Board of Adjustments, Building Board of Appeals, Citizens Commission on Salaries for Elected City Officials, Design Review Board, Personnel Board, Volunteer Firefighter Pension Board and Youth Advisory Board. Council Boards and Commissions Subcommittee October 09, 2018 Page 2 Board of Adjustment: Motion was made by Committee Member Edwards, seconded by Committee Member Patena, to appoint Kathaleen Patterson as an alternate member for a term to expire December 2019. Upon vote, the motion carried unanimously 3 to 0 Building Board of Appeals: The subcommittee was advised that there were no eligible applicants for this Board. Citizens Commission on Salaries for Elected City Officials Motion was made by Committee Member Edwards, seconded by Committee Member Patena, to appoint Eryn Streeter as a regular member for a term to expire December 2020. Upon vote, the motion carried unanimously 3 to 0 Design Review Board: The subcommittee was advised that there were no eligible applicants for this Board. Personnel Board: Motion was made by Committee Member Edwards, seconded by Committee Member Patena to appoint George Johnson as a regular member for a term to expire June 2021. Upon vote, the motion carried unanimously 3 to 0 By consensus, the Subcommittee asked staff to schedule an interview with Craig Finkey. Volunteer Firefighter Pension Board: Motion was made by Committee Member Edwards, seconded by Committee Member Patena, to appoint Brenda Rehnke as a regular member for a term to expire June 2022. Upon vote, the motion carried unanimously 3 to 0 Youth Advisory Board: Motion was made by Committee Member Edwards, seconded by Committee Member Patena, to appoint Ritika Ravindran as an alternate member for a term to expire June 2019. Upon vote, the motion carried unanimously 3 to 0 By consensus, the Subcommittee asked staff to schedule an interview with Addison Vinck. 4 R. Board and Commission Review Robert Goodhue, Deputy Development Director, provided an overview of the composition, powers, duties and activities related to Building Board of Appeals.
