City of Petersburg VA Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) Advisory Board September 2024 Meeting Minutes Petersburg Library • Meeting called to order at 6:08 pm by Chair Kofi Adih. • Advisory Board Members (AB) in attendance: Sonja Holt-Cartwright, Leonard Curry and Ethan Calvert, Miesha Henry, Tamika Green. CDBG Admin Jennifer Murphy-James • A quorum was determined and a moment of silence observed. • Motion made by Sonja Holt-Cartwright to approve July 2024 minutes. Seconded and accepted with no amendments or corrections. Report from Chair - Kofi Adih: • Chairman Kofi Adih provided an update on critical home repairs. Leonard Curry and Kofi Adih both went by house on 916 Wythe St., which Rebuilding Together is working on. Work so far looks shabby and the cost of roof work is high. Kofi suggested that we give them a month to get the repairs done. Kofi will send a letter requesting a tentative timeline and for Rebuilding Together to attend our October meeting to provide an update. • Chair Kofi Adih went over the PowerPoint that he presented during the City Council meeting on September 3. Unfinished Business: • The final Annual Action Plan was submitted by Admin Jennifer Murphy-James. Funding should be released by the end of the week. Chair recommended for next year that if the recipients from this year would like to apply for funds next year that they also provide a public report on what they previously completed. • Admin Jennifer Murphy-James suggested that we create a 5-year plan, possibly focusing solely on critical home repairs. • Bylaws: Vice-Chairperson and Secretary will be voted on at the October meeting. Kofi Adih made a motion to move the approval of the Bylaws to the October meeting to allow members Miesha Henry and Tamika Green to review. Motion passed. New Business • Justin Randolph with Project Homes was in attendance to answer any questions from the public • A resolution will be submitted to City Council at the October 15 meeting for a vote to reallocate the $263,831.15 left of CARES Act funds to CDBG. Crater District has agreed to release the funds. Meeting Adjourned at 7:12pm
