Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) Advisory Board

City of Petersburg Community Development Block Grant Advisory Board Meeting Minutes October 16, 2024 at Petersburg Library  Meeting called to order at 6:15pm by Chair Kofi Adih.  Advisory Board Members (AB) in attendance: Sonja Holt-Cartwright, Leonard Curry, Tamika Green, Maisha Henry and CDBG Admin Jennifer Murphy-James  A quorum was determined and a moment of silence observed.  The September 18, 2024 meeting minutes were accepted and seconded, with no amendments or corrections. Report from the Chairman - Kofi Adih  Funds received for critical home repairs, roughly $264,000 was available, CDBG was awarded approximately half the funds.  We need to have an informational session with City Council to educate on what exactly CDBG funds can be used for. Report from CDBG Administrator  Admin Jennifer shared the draft of the resolution of the City Council for the City supporting the allocation of CDBG Cares Act funds for critical home repair program, facilitated by Project Homes as a subrecipient. $132,090 is available with funds to be used before July 6, 2026.  Reviewed draft of 2023-2024 Consolidated Annual Performance Evaluation Report (CAPER).  Leonard Curry suggested that we choose a particular neighborhood/area in the City to focus on home repairs for the next five years. Unfinished Business  Approval of Bylaws: No changes were suggested. The bylaws were unanimously accepted and will be posted on the City of Petersburg CDBG webpage. Open discussion  Leonard Curry brought up concerns about the cost of the repairs completed at the Wythe Street home of Mr. Jones. Meeting Adjourned at 7:17
