CITY OF PIEDMONT – PARK & RECREATION BOARD George Fina Municipal Building 314 Edmond Road NW Wednesday, August 18, 2021 6:00 p.m. MEMBERS PRESENT: Chairman Charo Guillory, Alexa McNeil, and Shelly Williamson MEMBERS ABSENT: None STAFF PRESENT: City Secretary Arielle Garcia and Community Development Director Scott Garnand 1) CALL TO ORDER – Chairman Charo Guillory called the meeting to order at 6:10pm 2) ROLL CALL – City Secretary Arielle Garcia called roll and a quorum was present 3) APPOINTMENTS – a) Appointment of Chairman by City of Piedmont Mayor Mayor Kurt Mayabb appointed Charo Guillory as Chairman. b) Appointment of Vice Chairman by Park and Recreation Board Chairman Charo Guillory made a motion to appoint Shelly Williamson as Vise Chair. Motion was seconded by Alexa McNeil. VOTE WAS: AYE: Chairman Charo Guillory, Alexa McNeil, and Shelly Williamson NAY: None 4) CONSENT AGENDA – All items on the consent agenda are non-controversial and may be approved by one motion. a) Approval of Minutes for the Park and Recreation meeting in October, 2020, April, 2021, and June, 2021. b) Recognition/Approval of Financial Statements Vise Chair Shelly Williamson made a motion to approve items of the consent agenda. None 7) BUSINESS ITEMS – a) Discussion of future events Vise Chair Shelly Williamson made a motion to have the Bites & Beats on September 18th from 6pm – 9pm. Motion was seconded by Alexa McNeil. VOTE WAS: AYE: Chairman Charo Guillory, Alexa McNeil, and Vise Chair Shelly Williamson NAY: None Vise Chair Shelly Williamson made a motion to have the Circus on October 2nd from 2pm-4:30pm at the corner of 164th and Piedmont Road. Motion was seconded by Alexa McNeil. VOTE WAS: AYE: Chairman Charo Guillory, Alexa McNeil, and Vise Chair Shelly Williamson NAY: None Vise Chair Shelly Williamson made a motion to have the Car Show on October 29th from 6pm-9pm and Chili Cookout October 30th. Motion was Seconded by Alexa McNeil. Motion was seconded by Alexa McNeil. VOTE WAS: AYE: Chairman Charo Guillory, Alexa McNeil, and Vise Chair Shelly Williamson NAY: None c) Discussion of American Flag at the park Alexa McNeil made a motion to have Vise Chair Shelly Williamson talk with The Piedmont Area Veterans about maintenance on an American Flag at The Piedmont Park. A motion was not made for business item e. f) Discussion of Park and Recreations Facebook page Chairman Charo Guillory made a motion to start a Piedmont Park and Recreation Facebook page. Motion was seconded by Alexa McNeil.
