MINUTES OF THE REGULAR MEETING OF THE MAYOR’S YOUTH ADVISORY COMMITTEE HELD ON THURSDAY, MARCH 9, 2017 IN THE TOWN COUNCIL CHAMBERS LOCATED AT 1360 N. NIELS HANSEN LANE, LAKESIDE, AZ 85929 A. Call to Order: Vice Chairman Bailee Babbitt called the meeting to order at 6:53 a.m. Pledge of Allegiance: Vice Chairman Bailee Babbitt led the Pledge of Allegiance. Roll Call: The following members were present: Bailee Babbitt Vice-Chairman Keala Bratsch Chairman Natalie Campbell Member Sydney Crain Member Josiah Goode Member Deborah James Historian/PR Skyla Rigg Member Daniel West Member The following members were excused: Caroline Goode Secretary Also present: Matthew Williams Community Services Manager B. Minutes: Vice Chairman Bailee Babbitt moved to approve the following minutes: Mayor’s Youth Advisory Committee Regular Meeting February 9, 2017 The motion was seconded by Member Natalie Campbell and was carried with an 8-0 voice vote. C. Old Business: None D. New Business: D.1 Report on the Result of the White Mountain Winterfest Event Held on February 25, 2017 The Winterfest went well for a first time event. MYAC discussed ways to improve upon the event including adding more music. Next year, the Winterfest will take place on January 20th, 2018. D.2 Discussion of Participation in the Town Easter Egg Hunt Event: The Town Easter Egg Hunt will be on April 1st. As of now, all MYAC members are planning to attend. Members will be volunteering at the Headquarters tent where the Prize baskets will be claimed, holding the line onto the field before the egg hunt to keep parents and children out of sections, and will be sponsoring a station for temporary tattoos. Members discussed improvements to address concerns from last year’s event including making the banners in front of the sections more visible. Sydney Crain volunteered to be the Easter Bunny. D.3 Discussion Regarding Development of a Student Survey: Members established the purpose of the student survey will be to gain student perspective on development of activities in the town, as well as student interests. Members will each come up with a question and email it to Matthew, who will build an electronic survey. The survey will be put together for next meeting so as to have results available for discussion at the May meeting. D.4 Discussion Regarding Vacancies for Mayor’s Youth Advisory Committee: Current MYAC members will need to reapply to remain on the committee for the upcoming year. As three members will be graduating, there will be three empty spots on the committee. A public notice of vacancies has been released and application turned in March 28th. Members will also give out hard copies to interested parties and Daniel West volunteered to request a school wide announcement of the vacancies. A Subcommittee was formed to review applications. The Committee will meet on March 30th at 3:30. Prospective members will be interviewed and presented on April 13th. The recommended applicants will be reviewed at the April 20th Town Council Meeting. E. Public Comments: Vice Chairman Bailee Babbitt called for public comments. Community Services Manager Matthew William announced the following:  MYAC regular meeting for May is rescheduled to May 4, 2017  The Committee will present a report on the year’s activities at the May 4th town council meeting at 6:00 pm  He will be treating members to dinner at Los Corrales on April 25, 2017 at 6:00 pm F.
