MINUTES OF THE REGULAR MEETING OF THE MAYOR’S YOUTH ADVISORY COMMITTEE HELD ON THURSDAY, FEBRUARY 9, 2017 IN THE TOWN COUNCIL CHAMBERS LOCATED AT 1360 N. NIELS HANSEN LANE, LAKESIDE, AZ 85929 A. Call to Order: Chairman Keala Bratsch called the meeting to order at 6:56 a.m. Pledge of Allegiance: Chairman Keala Bratsch led the Pledge of Allegiance. Roll Call: The following members were present: Bailee Babbitt Vice-Chairman Keala Bratsch Chairman Natalie Campbell Member Caroline Goode Secretary Josiah Goode Member Skyla Rigg Member Daniel West Member The following members were absent: Sydney Crain Member Deborah James Historian/PR Also present: Stephanie Irwin Mayor Keith Johnson Town Manager Matthew Williams Community Services Manager Mayor’s Youth Advisory Committee – February 9, 2017 Page 2 B. Minutes: Secretary Caroline Goode moved to approve the following minutes: Mayor’s Youth Advisory Committee Regular Meeting January 12, 2017 Chairman Keala Bratsch seconded the motion and was carried with a 7-0 voice vote. C. Old Business: C.1 Review Discussion and Consideration of Amendments to the By-Laws of the Mayor’s Youth Advisory Committee Amendments to the By-Laws of the Mayor’s Youth Advisory Committee were discussed by the members. Chairman Keala Bratsch moved that the amendments from last meeting be approved as written, with the revision of the word “are” to “at” in Article V. Member Josiah Goode seconded the motion and the was carried unanimously. D. New Business: D.1 Discuss and Consider Participation in the White Mountain Winterfest Members will be volunteering in the headquarters tent, the table for waiver forms needed to use the tubing hill, and around the tubing hill. Chairman Keala Bratsch moved to participate in the White Mountain Winterfest on Saturday, February 25, 2017. Member Natalie Campbell seconded the motion and was carried unanimously. D.2 Discuss and Determine Attendance and AZ Ombudsman Registration to the Open Meeting Law Training Roughly five (5) members expressed an interest in attending the Open Meeting Law Training on Tuesday, February 28. Members completed registration forms. Chairman Keala Bratsch announced that she will speak to Mr. Cox, the principal of Blue Ridge High School to have the event covered as a school sponsored absence. The training will begin at 10:30 a.m. Mayor’s Youth Advisory Committee – February 9, 2017 Page 3 D.3 Discussion of the 2017 League Annual Conference Members expressed interest in attending the Conference on August 22-25, 2017 in Oro Valley. Further discussion will continue as more information becomes available. D.4 Discussion Regarding Plans and Goals for the Upcoming Year Members will continue this discussion in the upcoming meeting. The application and process for members for the next year will also be discussed, as the application will go out in the next few months. E. Miscellaneous: Announcements or Reminders: ● Next meeting: March 9, 2017 ● Open Meeting Law Training: February 28th, 2017 F. Public Comments: Chairman Keala Bratsch called for public comments. Town Manager Mr. Johnson and Mayor Irwin expressed an interest in town involvement within the high school. The members discussed putting together a survey to receive feedback from students as a partnership with the town council. G.
