MINUTES OF THE REGULAR MEETING OF THE MAYOR’S YOUTH ADVISORY COMMITTEE HELD ON THURSDAY, JULY 13, 2017 IN THE TOWN COUNCIL CHAMBERS LOCATED AT 1360 N. NIELS HANSEN LANE, LAKESIDE, AZ 85929 A. Call to Order: Chairman Keala Bratsch called the meeting to order At 12:09 p.m. Pledge of Allegiance: Keala Bratch led the Pledge of Allegiance. Roll Call: The following members were present: Bailee Babbitt Vice Chairman Keala Bratsch Chairman Josiah Goode Member Deborah James Historian/PR Rebekah James Member Skyla Rigg Member Daniel West Member (arrived at 2:00 p.m.) Joseph West Member Nate Campbell Member Also present: Matthew Williams Community Services Manager Keith Johnson Town Manager B. Minutes: Vice Chairman Babbitt moved to approve the following minutes: Mayor’s Youth Advisory Committee Regular Meeting May 4, 2017 The motion was seconded by Member Goode and was carried with a 9-0 voice vote. C. Old Business: C.1 Update on Member’s Attendance to the 2017 League Annual Conference Community Services Manager Williams reported that the 2017 League of Arizona Cities and Town Annual Conference is scheduled for August 22 through 25, 2017 at the Hilton El Conquistador, Oro Valley. The event for the youth program is on Wednesday, August 23 rd. Community Services Manager Williams reviewed with the members the travel arrangements, necessary forms that attendees need for parents to complete consent forms registration.  C.2 Review and Discussion of the Community Picnic and MYAC Survey Community Services Manager Williams reported the successful Community picnic event held on May 13, 2017. He thanked those who attended for participating and went through pros and cons. Community Services Manager Williams discussed with the MYAC survey- the survey hasn't been too sucessful, and ways to make it better, new or revised questions, etc. D. New Business: D.1 Nomination and Election of 2017-18 MYAC Officers Community Services Manager Williams conveyed that per MYAC By-Law an election of new officers for the position of Chairman, Vice Chairman, Secretary, Treasurer and Historian is required. The officers shall serves for one year or until their successors are elected. Community Services Manager Williams called for nomination of Chairman. Member Keala Bratsch nominated Joseph West. Member Bailee Babbitt nominated Keala Bratsch. Member Josiah Goode nominated Bailee Babbitt. Community Services Manager Williams called for a vote for the following candidate for Chairman and the result is as follows: Joseph West received 2 votes Keala Bratsch received 1 vote Bailee Babbitt received 4 votes Community Services Manager Williams announced Bailee Babbitt is elected as Chairman for MYAC 2017-2018. Community Services Manager Williams called for nomination of Vice-Chairman. Member Bailee Babbitt nominated Keala Bratsch. Member Joeseph West nominated Nate Campbell. Community Services Manager Williams called for a vote for the following candidate for Vice Chairman and the result is as follows: Keala Bratsch received 3 votes Nate Campbell received 5 votes Community Services Manager Williams announced Nate Campbell is elected as Vice Chairman for MYAC 2017-2018. Community Services Manager Williams called for nomination of Secretary. Member Josiah Goode nominated Joseph West. Member Rebekah James nominated Rebekah James. Community Services Manager Williams called for a vote for the following candidate for Secretary and the result is as follows: Joseph West received 3 votes Rebekah James received 5 votes Community Services Manager Williams announced Rebekah James is elected as Secretary for MYAC 2017-2018. Community Services Manager Williams called for nomination of Treasurer. Member Bailee Babbitt nominated Josiah Goode. Member Josiah Goode nominated Joseph West. Member Josiah Goode nominated Danny West. Community Services Manager Williams called for a vote for the following candidate for Treasurer and the result is as follows: Josiah Goode received 2 votes Joseph West received 0 votes Danny West received 6 votes Community Services Manager Williams announced Danny West is elected as Treasurer for MYAC 2017-2018. Community Services Manager Williams called for nomination of Historian. Member Keala Bratch nominated Keala Bratch. Member Rebekah James nominated Deborah James. Member Joseph West nominated Josiah Goode. Community Services Manager Williams called for a vote for the following candidate for Historian and the result is as follows: Keala Bratch received 7 votes Deborah James received 0 votes Josiah Goode received 0 votes Community Services Manager Williams announced Keala Bratch is elected as Historian for MYAC 2017-2018. D.2 Review and Discussion of MYAC By-Laws Rules & Regulations Community Services Manager Williams read by-laws and the council discused the meaning of the by-laws. D.3 Discussion Regarding MYAC Plans and Goals for the Upcoming Year Community Services Manager Williams called for problems the council saw in the community/school. Council made a list and went through to discuss solutions for each individual problem. D.4 Announcement of Upcoming Events Community Services Manager Williams reported future upcoming events. there was no discusion. E. Public Comments: Chairman Keala Bratsch called for public comments. No comments were offered. F.
