MINUTES OF THE REGULAR MEETING OF THE
MAYOR’S YOUTH ADVISORY COMMITTEE HELD ON
THURSDAY, August 10, 2017IN THE TOWN COUNCIL CHAMBERS
LOCATED AT 1360 N. NIELS HANSEN LANE, LAKESIDE, AZ 85929
A. Call to Order: Chairman Bailee Babbitt called the meeting to order
At 6:55 a.m.
Pledge of Allegiance: Bailee Babbitt led the Pledge of Allegiance.

B. Minutes:
Chairman Babbitt moved to approve the following minutes:
Mayor’s Youth Advisory Committee Regular Meeting July 13, 2017
The motion was seconded by Historian Bratsch and was carried with a 9-0 voice vote.
C. Old Business:
C.1 Discussion: 2017 League Annual Conference at Hilton El Conquistador, Oro
Valley on August 22-25, 2017.
Community Services Manager Williams reported that the Members attending the conference
were to meet at 12:00 on Tuesday, August 23, 2017 at the Town Hall to depart for the
conference. There was no further discussion.
C.2 Review and Discussion Regarding the Following:
Legal Action: MYAC Survey Updates
Member Goode confirmed that a Q-R code had been made for students of Blue Ridge High
School to scan. Chairman Babbitt suggested that signs be put by doors of BRHS with Q-R codes
for students to scan as well as peer suggestion of the action.
D. New Business:
D.1 Discussion: Cool Runnings Event 9/23/17
Community Services Manager Williams reported that numbers for event were decreasing.
Members discussed and decided that event should be changed to a color run, in hopes to increase
numbers.
D.2 Discussion: Community Bonfire 9/2/17
Community Services Manager Williams reported that the Nature Center may be discontinuing
the annual Trunk-or-Treat and if this took place, would council consider taking over the event.
Council agreed without official vote. Historian Keala Bratsch mentioned that council should get
word out, perhaps in an assembly.
D.3 Discussion: MYAC School Assembly
Community Services Manager Williams opened discussion about school assembly participation
by MYAC. Vice Chairman Campbell suggested that council present issues in a form similar to
Mock Crash done by SADD club of BRHS. Council further discussed and decided that they will
Take last 5 minutes of regular school assembly and discuss their top issue: food/clothing.
Historian Bratsch suggested having a bulletin board at Blue Ridge High School to post town
events, etc. Member Deborah James introduced Adopt a Family and council discussed topic.
E. Public Comments:
Chairman Bailee Babbitt called for public comments.
No comments were offered.
F. Adjournment:
There being no further business at this time, the meeting was adjourned at 7:38 a.m.
