MINUTES OF THE REGULAR MEETING OF THE
MAYOR’S YOUTH ADVISORY COMMITTEE HELD ON
THURSDAY, NOVEMBER 9, 2017 AT THE TOWN MUNICIPAL
BUILDING LOCATED AT 958 S. WOODLAND RD., LAKESIDE, AZ 85929
A. Call to Order: Vice-Chairman Nate Campbell called the meeting to order
At 6:58 a.m.
Pledge of Allegiance: Nate Campbell led the Pledge of Allegiance.
Roll Call:
The following members were present:

B. Minutes:
Member Joseph West moved to approve the following minutes:
Mayor’s Youth Advisory Committee Regular Meeting March 8, 2018
The motion was seconded by Historian Bratsch and was carried with an 8-0 voice vote.
C. Old Business:
C.1 Discussion for May Town Council Presentation
Recreation Coordinator Malaina Spillman suggested that Chairman Babbitt, Vice-
Chairman Campbell, and Secretary Rebekah James each go over the presentation
for the May 3rd town council meeting, and council agreed.
C.2 Discussion and Report on Easter Egg Hunt
Council agreed that the fundraiser went very well, and discussed doing a bake sale
at further town events like the Sue’s Crew walk.
D. New Business:
D.1 Interview, Discussion, and Legal Action, Recommend to Town Council the
Appointments of FY 2018-2019 Members to the Mayor’s Youth Advisory
Committee
Committee individually interviewed the following: Erin Holmes, Grace Whiting,
Sophie Shumway, Olivia Everingham, Landin Rigg, Joseph Woolridge, Jordyn
Murchison, Devon Webb, Dylan Baca, and Elizabeth Rapacz. Within the
interview, each were asked the following five questions:
1. What do you see MYAC doing in the future?
2. Seeing that you are/were a part of (insert club or sport name), how do you
think that can help you in MYAC?
3. How can you personally contribute to MYAC?
4. What is something in the community that you think needs to improve?
5. Can you commit your time to MYAC?
After finishing the interviews, the committee privately reviewed each application
and interview. After finalizing and voting, the committee decided to appoint
Olivia Everingham, Landin Rigg, and Elizabeth Rapacz.
D.2 Presentation and Discussion on Upcoming Community Events: Community
Picnic, Sue’s Crew, and Balloon Event
Recreation Coordinator Spillman announced that the Community Picnic had been
moved to August 18, 2018, and on May 19, 2018, the original date, there will be a
movie in the park, Coco. At Coco, the committee decided to sell popcorn as a
fundraiser as well as some candy and/or drinks. This is to fundraise for the Mr.
Thomas Kean Memorial. Committee also decided to do a dedication ceremony for
the memorial. Lastly, the committee decided to help set up for the Balloon event,
and there is expected to be 1000+ people there.
D.3 Discussion and Legal Action for Billy Creek Project Assistance on May 5,
2018
Committee decided to be there at 9:00 to help.
Member Daniel West moved to approve the following:
Meet at 9:00 am on May 5, 2018 to help with the Billy Creek Project
The motion was seconded by Member Goode and was carried with an 8-0 voice
vote.
E. Public Comments:
Vice-Chairman Nate Campbell called for public comments.
No comments were offered.
F. Adjournment:
There being no further business at this time, the meeting was adjourned at 9:08 a.m.
