MINUTES OF THE REGULAR MEETING OF THE
MAYOR’S YOUTH ADVISORY COMMITTEE HELD ON
THURSDAY, APRIL 8, 2021
IN THE PINETOP-LAKESIDE TOWN HALL LOCATED
325 W. WHITE MOUNTAIN BLVD., LAKESIDE, AZ 85929
A. Call to Order: Vice Chairman Rigg called the meeting to order at 7:09 a.m.

B. Minutes:
Member Goode moved to approve the following minutes:
B.1 Minutes of MYAC meeting held on April 8, 2021.
The motion was seconded by Member Lawler, and was carried with a 5-0 voice vote.
C. Old Business:
C.1 Discussion regarding Recruitment of New FY2021-2022 MYAC Members.
Recruitment will begin soon for the upcoming 2021-2022 year. As of this time, MYAC
sees one opening spot. MYAC members need to be on lookout for students interested in
possibly joining for the new upcoming year. Interested students should get in contact
with Malaina Spillman for a packet.
C.2 Discussion and Legal Action Regarding Upcoming Events, i.e., Easter Egg
Hunt, Tilman Honor Run, Chili Cook-Off, White Mountain Balloon Festival.
Note the following Event Dates:
Tilman Honor Run; April 24, 2021
Chili Cook-Off; May 8, 2021
White Mountain Balloon Festival; June 25-27, 2021
Pinetop Days; August 21, 2021
Park Movies; June 19, 2021
July 10, 2021
August 14, 2021
Those who are available to help volunteer at the Chili Cook-Off will be needed. Malaina
Spillman will send out an email regarding more information on the Chili Cook-Off. For
the White Mountain Balloon Festival there will be a mass ascension with twenty
balloons. There may be an opportunity for MYAC members to ride in a balloon. MYAC
Members discuss the possibility of doing bake sales at some of the following events.
D. New Business
D.1 Discussion and Legal Action Regarding Updates and Changes to Bylaws.
Members briefly discuss the minor changes to the MYAC Bylaws. The times have now
been changed to 7:00 a.m. through 7:45 a.m.
D.2 Discussion and Legal Action Regarding Presentation to Town Council on
April 15, 2021.
Members review PowerPoint presentation for Town Council. Minor changes were made.
The following details were included in the PowerPoint presentation:
- MYAC Past Projects; (QPR Training, Easter Egg Hunt)
- MYAC Current Projects; (Comfort Kit Drive, Chili Cook-Off)
- MYAC Potential Projects; (Extending Grass at Jack Barker Park, Assisting
Businesses with Outside Labor, Granting Wishes)
MYAC will be serving lunch to Seniors starting Thursday, April 15, 2021.
Member Rigg moved to approve the presentation.
The motion was seconded by Member Grzelak, and was carried with a 5-0 voice vote.
D.3 Discussion and Legal Action Regarding FY2021-2022 Priorities and Goals
Including Serving Lunch at Pinetop-Lakeside Senior Center.
The committee discussed the possibilities of adding one or two more members. Packets
are available for each current Member to send out for interested students. If current
members of MYAC want to remain in the committee, they will need to contact Malaina
Spillman pronto. MYAC would like to hold the “retreat” in July starting out the new
committee year. Priorities and goals were discussed. Members Landon Rigg and Parker
Rigg had the idea of a skate park. Luckily, a skate park is already a potential “master
plan” for Mountain Meadows. MYAC members would be great help in installation.
Planting flowers at Jack Barker Park was also discussed. The Snowflake Temple has
donated tons of tulips to It’s Magic, who might be willing to donate some tulips to the
town. MYAC members could plant around the first week of May. More details
regarding flower planting will be discussed at the next meeting. MYAC members will be
serving lunch to seniors the second Thursday of each month starting April 15, 2021.

There being no further business at this time, the meeting was adjourned at 7:54 a.m. by
Vice Chairman Rigg.
