MINUTES OF THE REGULAR MEETING OF THE MAYOR’S YOUTH ADVISORY COMMITTEE HELD ON THURSDAY, MARCH 9, 2023 IN THE PINETOP-LAKESIDE TOWN HALL LOCATED 325 W. WHITE MOUNTAIN BLVD., LAKESIDE, AZ 85929 A. Call to Order: Chairman Rigg called the meeting to order at 7:10 a.m. Pledge of Allegiance: Chairman Rigg led the Pledge of Allegiance. Roll Call: The following members were present: Parker Rigg Chairman *Morgan Eddy Vice Chairman Brooke Horne Secretary Rain Dimaliwat Member Jesse Stroup Member *Joe Grzelak Member River Rigg Member *Denotes tardy Also present: Malaina Spillman Assistant to the Public Works Director Stephanie Irwin Mayor Keith Johnson Town Manager B. Minutes: B.1 Minutes of MYAC meeting held on January 12, 2023. Member R. Rigg moved to approve the following: Mayor’s Youth Advisory Committee Regular meeting January 12, 2023. The motion was seconded by Member Horne and carried unanimously with a 5-0 vote. C. New Business: C.1 Review and Discussion regarding Comfort Kits Donation and Assembly Assistance. Mayor Irwin encouraged MYAC members to write a thank you notes to the local woman who crocheted blankets for the comfort kits. MYAC’s comfort kit assembly will take place after the MYAC meeting on May 11, 2023. A donation box will be located at the town hall. A MYAC member will send the online flyer for the donation drive to BR’s StuCo Instagram. Member Horne will ask Ms. Montoya if extra toys from a previous drive will be used. C.2 Review, Discussion and Legal Action Regarding Serving lunch at White Mountain Community Center. Member J. Grzelak moved to approve the following: Approve MYAC members who are available on March 9th at 11am to assist in serving lunch and visiting patrons at the White Mountain Community Center. The motion was seconded by Member Dimaliwat and was defeated by a 0-7 vote. C.3 Discussion Regarding Goals, Priorities and Project Status and Next Steps. Ms. Spillman explained a potential year-long project. MYAC will research on the Architectural Barriers Act and enforce the owner of the Lakeside Post Office to comply with ADA act. Ms. Spillman will come with more information and will email MYAC members about this project before April’s MYAC meeting. Mayor Irwin also expressed feelings of disconnect between the town of Pinetop and Blue Ridge. MYAC members are encouraged to communicate school events through Birdman’s podcast. C.4 Discussion Regarding New Member Applications for FY2023-2024. MYAC members are encouraged to invite peers to apply for MYAC. Freshman are preferred, but all are welcome to apply. C.5 Discussion Regarding Letter of Intent for Returning Members All returning members need to email or write a letter of intent addressed to Ms. Spillman before April 13th explaining their intent to return to MYAC. D. Public Comment: If MYAC members would like to help at the annual Easter egg hunt, it will be held at the Woodland Lake on April 8, 2023. F.
