MINUTES OF THE REGULAR MEETING AND PUBLIC HEARING OF THE TOWN OF PINETOP-LAKESIDE MAYOR’S YOUTH ADVISORY COMMITTEE, HELD ON THURSDAY, MARCH 21, 2024 AT TOWN OF PINETOP-LAKESIDE COUNCIL CHAMBERS 325 W. WHITE MOUNTAIN BOULEVARD, LAKESIDE, AZ 85929 SOME MEMBERS OF THE COMMISSION MAY PARTICIPATE TELEPHONICALLY. A. Call to Order Chairman Smithson called the meeting to order at 7:03 a.m. Chairman Smithson led the Pledge of Allegiance. Roll Call: The following Members were present: Grace Smithson Chairman Jesse Stroup Vice Chairman Brooke Horne Secretary Jackson Woods Treasurer Rain Dimilawat Historian Sienna Grzelak Committee Member Josiah Grzelak Committee Member River Rigg Committee Member Morgan Eddy Committee Member Also Present: Stephanie Irwin Mayor Keith Johnson Town Manager Mackenzie Valichnac Deputy Clerk B. Call to the Public Chairman Smithson called for public comments. No comments were offered. C. Consent Agenda C.1 Consider approval of the Minutes of the Regular Meeting of the Mayor’s Youth Advisory Committee held on February 15, 2024. Minutes of Mayor’s Youth Advisory Committee Regular Meeting – March 21, 2024. Page 2 Committee Member Rigg moved to approve the minutes of the Regular Meeting of the Mayor’s Youth Advisory Committee held on February 15, 2024. Committee Member J. Grzelak seconded the motion and by show of hands the following vote was recorded: AYES NAYS ABSTAIN Grace Smithson X Jesse Stroup X Jackson Woods X Brooke Horne X Rain Dimilawat X Josiah Grzelak X Sienna Grzelak X Morgan Eddy X River Rigg X Chairman Smithson declared the motion passed 9-0. D. New Business D.1 Review upcoming meeting dates. Deputy Clerk Valichnac reviewed upcoming dates. The following was discussed: -MYAC members will serve lunch at the Community Center on March 21st. -MYAC members will continue to write two Comfort Kit letters per month. -Annie DeRosier spoke to MYAC members about helping with the Easter Family Celebration on March 30th. -The League of Cities and Towns will hold their Youth Conference on August 27th. -Interviews for the 2024-25 year will be held April 11th. -MYAC will run the April 18th Town Council meeting. D.2 Assign tasks for presentation board/PowerPoint. Members were assigned to write a summary of the following topics for the Town Council Presentation: 1. Backpack Snacks-Grace 5. Sirens and Sleigh Bells-Joe 6. Re-Center-Rain 7. PD Bags and Tour-Jackson 8. Public Works Tour-Morgan 9. Tree Lighting-Sienna D.3 Discuss upcoming vacancies and renewals for next year. There will be three vacant seats from graduating seniors. Members were reminded to notify Deputy Clerk Valichnac of the intent to return next year. Members were encouraged to tell their friends to apply. D.4 Discussion and legal action to serve lunch at the Community Center. Members wanted to serve lunch one more time before the school year was over. Vice Chair Stroup made a motion to approve MYAC members serving lunch at the Pinetop-Lakeside Community Center on March 21, 2024.
