Council Minutes June 18, 2020 – 7:00 p.m. Regular Meeting The Pinson City Council met in regular session in Council Chambers at 4410 Main Street on Thursday, June 18, 2020. Mayor Sanders led the invocation. Councilor Tanner led the Pledge of Allegiance to the Flag of the United States of America. Roll Call: Marie Turner, City Clerk, called roll of Pinson City Council with the following council members present: Mayor Sanders Councilor Tanner Councilor Galamore Councilor Roberts Councilor Churchwell Absent: Councilor McCain Minutes: Councilor Roberts offered a motion to waive the reading of the June 4, 2020, special Called meeting minutes. Councilor Churchwell duly seconded the motion. Mayor Sanders called for all opposed to say "no", all in favor say "aye." Councilor Churchwell made a motion to accept the minutes as written of the June 4, 2020, Special Called meeting. Councilor Galamore duly seconded the motion. Mayor Sanders called for any discussion. As there was no discussion, Mayor Sanders called for all opposed to say "no", all in favor say "aye." Mayor Sanders" Let the record reflect both motions passed unanimously". Committee Chair Comments: Finance: Councilor Tanner offered a motion to pay the bills in the amount of $147,247.92, a copy of the bills schedule is attached. Councilor Roberts duly seconded the motion. Mayor Sanders called for any discussion. After some discussion, Mayor Sanders called for all opposed to say "no", all in favor say "aye." Mayor Sanders "Let the record reflect the motion passed unanimously." Mayors Report: Mayor Sanders mentioned the July 2, 2020, Pinson City Council meeting will be held at the Storm Shelter in Palmerdale, beginning at 7:00 p.m. Mayor Sanders announced the Splash Pad will open July 1, 2020, adding with some restrictions to keep residents safe and according to Jefferson County Health Department guidelines. Mayor Sanders opened the Public Hearing regarding, 2812 Sweeney Hollow Circle. Bob Jones, Zoning Administrator, reported on the property located at, 2812 Sweeney Hollow Circle, stating the property has been purchased and the Weed Lein has been paid to the City and the new owner will be repairing the home. Mayor Sanders, “Let the record reflect there was no one present to speak for or against this case”. Mayor Sanders closed the Public Hearing. Councilor Galamore offered a resolution extending the deadline for the demolition of a building or structure located at 2812 Sweeney Hollow Circle, Birmingham, AL 35215, Parcel ID#12-00- 05-3-001-019, in compliance with ordinance number 2016-16 of the City of Pinson, Alabama. Councilor Churchwell duly seconded the motion. Mayor Sanders called for any discussion. Councilor Roberts asked if the extension is for 3 months? Bob Jones stated it will be extended for 60 days from July 14, 2020, which will be, September 14, 2020. Mayor Sanders called for any further discussion. As there was no further discussion, Mayor Sanders called for a roll call vote on the main resolution with the following results: Mayor Sanders-yes; Councilor Tanner-yes; Councilor Galamore-yes; Councilor Roberts-yes; Councilor Churchwell-yes. Mayor Sanders, resolution passes unanimously as, Resolution 20-23. Old Business: None. New Business: None. Chief Coleman, Center Point Fire District gave the Fire District report. Councilor Roberts moved to adjourn. Councilor Galamore duly seconded the motion. Mayor Sanders called for all opposed to say “no”, all in favor say “aye”. Motion carried.
